Scratched Paint from the factory. UNACCEPTABLE!!!

UNACCEPTABLE!!! I was detailing my car the other day and I was obviously looking for any defects - especially paint defects since there seems to be a lot of complaints from forum members.

Well I found a doozy and I am NOT HAPPY!. I found this scratched valve cover and it wasnt hard to miss. It sticks out like a sore thumb. How could this have gotten by their inspectors.

Ok, so its obviously there and I didnt do it. SO I brought the car back to the dealer to see if they could give me a new engine and the service manager said NO!

[email protected]!!!! I paid $70,000 for a car and they think this kind of defect is acceptable?

Well I lost it and demanded they replace the motor ASAP but the manager just LAUGHED AT ME! He said they could respray the cover with RATTLE CAN PAINT!!!

Are you kidding me? RATTLE CAN PAINT? This is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.

So I opened a claim with Chrysler. Either replace the engine or give me my money back. No Way am I going to live with a rattle can spray paint job! NO WAY!

Take a look at the damage. Its so obvious I cant believe this passed inspection. I am too embarrassed to even open my hood. Whatcha all think?

You want an engine for that? You'd rather have some R+R guy with impacts cranked up than some touch up paint? Trust me have them paint it.
Maybe some touch up paint. (Professional, I'm sure could make that scratch disappear.) Probably not realistic to think 'new engine' ;)
Its hard to tell from the picture but from the looks of it i think you should be able to get in there with some 3000 grit sand paper and some cutting compound and it should go away. It's hard to tell how deep it is from the picture. I wouldn't expect dodge to replace the whole motor over a scratch.
But I want my paint to be OEM. Not a respray. And even if I let them they respray, I'd have overspray everywhere! Thats why I should have a new motor!
It's single stage. Buff it out

Easy fix. That's nothing compared to others. Just needs a little touch up.
Lol a new engine?

Your joking right? You meant to say your just trying to get the valve cover replaced right?

Did t you also have paint defects? How did they handle yours?

I'm trying to help you here. A new engine (which you won't get anyway) would be more worry than that to anyone here I guarantee it. It's a VERY small issue don't make a mountain out of a mole hill.
Good luck with that new motor.

I would be happy with a new valve cover or to have a pro take care of it. I too think that asking for a new engine is extreme.

I have a few body paint issues that can be seen in certain lighting but not in direct sunlight. Dealer said that Dodge would not cover the work unless the defects can be seen in direct sunlight. Direct sunlight hides a lot of paint defects.

Seriously with all due respect stop with this I want a new motor shit right now! You are making your self look extremely childish.

That is the valve cover....the valve cover bolts to the cylinder head. That orange piece is removable. YOU DO NOT NEED A COMPLETE NEW ENGINE TO FIX THIS! All you need is a new valve cover.

And if your worried about stupid matching VIN numbers you don't have to worry there are no VIN numbers on the valve covers.
I have been trying for almost two months to get a brass monkey wheel replaced due to a nasty scratch that was documented at time of PDI and I'm losing,so good luck with that new engine.

I thought I was the worst customer ever, but you win.... It looks like a little scuff Mark,, there not going to give you a 23,000 dollar motor, when they can take the cover off and replace it four only a couple hundred dollars....let me ask you,, what will happen if you have a mechanical failure,, are you going to want a new car then??? I think you need to come back down to earth...

it can be buffed out or you can get a new valve cover, not a new engine. I'm fighting on my bumper replacement for the fascia defect and they don't want to blend panels and said to me "oh well" if it doesn't match after they just paint the bumper
There are also machine marks on that tubing in your picture.

Shit that's it...Chrysler better build him a new car ASAP.
