If someone has the link to an existing thread, that'd be great. If not, I have a couple of dumb questions.

So, coming from the TRX world, they are apparently super easy to steal. Those guys were all pissed off because a security fix was released for the Dodge cars and not the truck. My general understanding is that I need to buy a couple of extra keys, have them programmed, and then have the security gateway(or whatever) locked?

So, if my RE comes with a black key and a red key, do I just buy one more of each in theory? Is there some kind of reference number available that will tell the dealer exactly what I'd like to have done?

You don't have to buy any more keys - it locks the keys you have to the car. If you need a new key afterwards, you would also have to replace the RF Hub, which is what the security update locks down so a thief can't program a new key on the fly from within the car. In terms of a new order 2022, I would expect it to be supplied with the RF Hub update, but should be able to confirm with the dealer.

If it's new, it comes with 2 red and 1 black key.

You don't have to get extra keys for the lockdown, but I'm getting only 1 Red key, and don't need an extra black key. Not even sure what the black key is for but sure hell don't need another one. My key should hopefully be here this week and will schedule to lockdown in the coming weeks.
There also was a letter sent you can show the dealer.

Finally got notice of RF-Hub (Key Lockdown) for 2020 HC...

Received letter from FCA (yeah it actually says FCA not Stellantis) about the RF-Hub enhanced security feature. So seems they're starting to filter down to prior model years now. It doesn't mention any other enhanced security features. Hoping they do the glass break and motion sensor...

If you only have one red key and one black key and you get the RF hub update you are asking for trouble. At least get one more red key.

Just got mine done today. They almost try and talk you out of it. I guess there just making sure you know the down side of it.

The only reason people get an extra key or two is if they are someone that tends to loose their keys. The reason for this is because once the Hub is locked you can no longer have a key programmed for your car unless you buy a new Hub.
