Once upon a time, a driver either had to be a mechanic to drive a car, or needed to have a mechanic on board. Then came technology. The bendix, centrifugal and vacuum advance, automatic transmissions, fuel injection, sensors, ECM’s, autonomous vehicles, and now autonomous racing. Move over Shelby, Miles, Jackie Stewart, Foyt, the Allisons, Big Daddy, King Richard 43, and the dozens of other legends. The future of racing now belongs to couch potatoes living in mom’s basement.
