I have a 2016 Hellcat Charger with 14K miles on it. I remote started it tonight to drive home from work, not sure if thats relevant however i saw other transmission issues that remote starting seemed relevant. When i got in, i put my foot on the brake and pressed the ignition button to turn everything else on, and immediately got a "service shifter" message, "check air bag" message, the check engine light came on and the traction control turned off, which i think is par for the course with a check engine light. I drove home with no issue and planned to take it to a dealer tomorrow. When i got in the garage and put it in park, all was good until i turned it off. I can not get the dash lights to go off nor the car to power down as it thinks it is not in park. I shifted several times and stopped and restarted the engine to no avail. I was hoping it would time out, however after 45 minutes the dash lights are still on and it still beeping. Oddly the shift status on the dash does say its in park, and it is physically in park, i pushed it gently forward and back to confirm, so the electronic shift happened. It drove and shifted fine getting home, however its just stuck on...

I didn't see any other reference to this issue, any and all thoughts are appreciated!

Safely remove the negative battery cable for a few minutes.

Then put the cable back on and retighten the connection.

This will “reboot” the modules in the car.

May solve your problem.

Thanks for the thought, I tried that and gave it a good 15-20 minutes and when reconnected, the car was off and happy until i started it, i got the same errors over again and couldn't turn the power off again. i never even shifted it, just started it, and it immediately thought it wasn't in park. I disconnected again so its not on all night and I guess i need to take it to the dealer next time i start it.

I got a simillar issue with my previous charger rt 16. The problem was simillar to the errors you mentioned + the power steering shutoff airbag light check engine washer fluid low and the damn wipers suddenly work without touching the wipers switch lever. The problem started when I got it to a shop to tint the windows. They have used some kind of spray to cut the windshield tint piece from the outer side and the spray residual dropped when the tech smeared it. All the spray residuial when in between the PCM wires and made a temporary short in the system. I called the shop and the tech told me it was normal and just drive it home and leave it in the sun for the spray to evaporate. After that incident, i got no issues. Now your situation is a little different and It might be a short in the electronics part. Just to make sure, sometimes the rear ABS wiring gets really close to the rim of the wheel and after driving for q long time the wires will start to grind and expose to the rim causing a short and might cause your symptoms. Sorry for the long story I hope you fix yours cus I just got mine whitch is the same model as yours and I will check them wires to be safe.

Thanks for all the feedback, S3eed nailed it with the short. Disconnecting the battery was the only way to get it to turn off. The reset did not work. We did get it to the dealer to find it had about 10 error codes and the a/c quit working. It took the dealer 3 days of head scratching and diagnostic to finally discover mice had climbed up under the firewall and were chewing on the wires. They felt so bad for us they charged us employee cost to replace the wiring harness. All has been good since. Moral of the story, if you have a bunch of error codes at once, check the wiring.

can you give me an idea how much you had to pay for parts and labor to replace the wiring harness. We have the same issue. It’s been chewed up.

Could you let us know what your repair cost was?

My 15 SRT is having the exact same issue and mice are the culprit for me as well!
