Hey guys, new here from Canada.

I've been sitting on this decision for a bit now and I feel it's a tough one! And I need some advise. This will be my new daily and I put on 25,000km/15,000miles annually.

I'm a Salesman at a Dodge dealer, have a huge passion for performance and collecting cars. I am needing to get into a product I sell. I have 2 cars that I'm bouncing between..... a Charger Daytona (5.7) and a Charger Hellcat. The decision sounds easy till you get to the details.

2017 Charger Daytona
Yellow - 35,000km/22,000miles
5.7L
Advance Tech Group
NO sunroof
Clean title, zero accident history, local car that seems like a great deal at $40,000-CND/$31,300-USD

Or

2015 Charger Hellcat
B5 Blue - 80,000km/50,000miles
Loaded for a 15 Hellcat
Clean title with accident history
$45,000-CND/$35,250USD

The Daytona is certified at a dealer, the Hellcat is as-is Private. I know the Hellcat is due for its major service, been told it still needs trans and diff service.

Details on the Hellcat: accident happened in 2017 @ 44,000km/27,500miles
Front end damage that looks to be really well repaired (replaced all exterior parts upfront-fenders-hood-bumper-lights-etc., rad, rad support, front suspension) frame damage was pulled back within factory specs (3mm at touchpoints, had sway damage) no air bags deployed.

Looking at the Hellcat, youd never know it was in an accident, body shop did a good job (I use to work in one so I know the process)

What is your guys opinion?

5.7 Daytona or Hellcat?

Really tough call. Obviously I’d rather have a Hellcat. I think it boils down to if you’re going to keep it for a long time or use it as a gateway to another one relatively soon. As in less than 4 or 5 yrs. The Hellcat will scare off buyers - as in the majority of them unless the car was almost free. So for me re-sale would determine the outcome. If you were planning to drive it until it died then the Hellcat for sure. If not I’d prob grab the Daytona.

That's a great way of putting it! I'm initially thinking of keeping it and just have it in my Collection.... life changes and plans change too though, so my plan now might not be the same in 4-5 years.

Plus with rumors of Hellcat on the chopping block..... will Hellcat prices flatline, drop or increase in value? I feel like once Dodge releases their line of E-muscle, the Daytona value will drop, and Hellcats are most likely to flatline or go up.

For me, personally, I would NEVER buy a car where the airbags deployed. I think there are many out there like me and that could make your resale value low and resale difficult, at best.

IMO at $35k the $$ on the hellcat is pretty low in this market and I think reflects the damage. 5.7 daytonas arent worth much regardless.
Putting miles on either will dwindle the value on each as time goes so to me its a wash. The HC may be harder to sell later but you wont get much for either on a trade in 4-5 years regardless. HC might actually hold some value even with the damage. HC will be far more fun to drive but more $$$ to maintain.
Having said all that, Id really be leery of buying a car where the airbags deployed

I completely agree! With all that! Those are excellent points!!!

I appologize, i misunderstood the owner of the Hellcat... he also just sent me the repair report from the bodyshop and it looks like airbags never deployed. Either way, there still is accident damage......

I would go for the hellcat. 35k is a good price, and besides, what will it be worth in 3-5 years, likely the same.

Body damaged car with person who was not careful plus it's a dodge/chrysler, im realistic that any suggestion is getting him involved into, as the famous guy says: Endless money pit. I own various cars, but this forum is probably the most e-penis defensive i have come across. I still want a manual hellcat though, brand new.

Nice post brother, stay classy.
When you make posts like that and this one, you seem like you are only on here for confrontation.
He simply asked between two cars, not a miata or a prelude, or a vw bug. I think most people on hellcat.org are hellcat owners and going to lean in that direction.

Between the two it’s a no brainer if your looking for a daily driver. HELLCAT.
I got mine with 7K miles and rear damage. It has a rebuilt title which has no effect on making me smile every time I hit the start button. I’ve got over 110K miles on it now and it’s been the most trouble free car I’ve ever had. If it’s been damaged and you get a good deal that reflects that, you never worry about where you park it. It’s a stress free daily driver and it’s a HELLCAT. No brainer.
