Went into my local dealer today to spec/price a 2021 WB HC. MSRP is 76,750 without any rebates and the dealer wants to throw on top a 5K mark up. Doesn't really make sense to me to have something thats being special ordered to throw on a mark up. Anyone pay over MSRP for a special order or am I just being hustled?

Walk away. No one is paying over MSRP. Dealer is trying to take advantage of the chip shortage. Plenty of dealers wont do that. Find another dealer.

Good to all hear! I’ll be visiting some other dealers this week. Anyone have link ups in Las Vegas? Also willing to travel out of town. Want to do this right and not get got.

Try calling/emailing the dealers before you set foot in the showroom. Even if they insist on coming in to talk. Sorry, you’re busy and don’t have free time. You’ll only have time to come in and sign the papers when you finalize a number.
Don’t waste your time back and forth BS on the showroom floor unless you already had a good relationship with a dealer you trust.

Dan Cummins in Paris Ky. is still offering below INVOICE prices. Depending on where you live, might be a good break in drive... a special order car should be cheaper, because the dealer doesn't have to put any $$ up to sell it.

That’s what I figured. There’s no work getting someone in the door, no really hard ball negotiations with the car cause their getting the exact spec they want. It’s probably the easiest sale someone would make.

Price is not fact only an opinion. Your reaction to the $5K mark up should have been to offer to pay something less than MSRP. Say base price plus destination charge.

In your hand you have a list of alternative cars at different dealers, and the cars don't all have to be identical to the one you are considering ordering. They just don't want to be priced at or over what you believe you can buy the WB/HC for.

This shows the dealer if he fails to make a deal you walk and buy a car elsewhere.
