i see dodge still offering 2.9 over 72 months, not quite the 0 for 72 months on canceled rewb, can i secure financing now before rates skyrocket , i have seen local credit unions where rates went up considerably

OP, you might consider making monthly, $1,300, deposits into you credit union account.

not only will it earn you some interest, will also make for a deposit.
i did just this for four years and paid $0 in loan interest . ;)

The car has to be in possession of the dealership first. Before you can even talk to them about financing. I mean you can’t even lock in a finance rate yet.

I’m agreeing with the other comments lol

I had 1.9 ( I think) from NFCU and was set with that until I was offered 0% so I used Chryslers money. OP can get a pre-approved loan through whatever banking institution.

No because the dealer nor you are in possession of the vehicle yet. In fact the dealer hasn't even been invoiced for the car yet. Lets say you did do it. The car get badly damaged at any time before it gets to you, its your problem.

I like your train of thought on this however it is flawed. The reason you cannot finance a new order car you are not in possession yet is because it doesn't exist. Even if it is built, it still doesn't exist and you cannot borrow against it until it is titled. Brand new cars do not have titles, they have a certificate of origin which is used by the dealer to get a title. You can't insure it, you can't do anything with it until it has that title. That title allows consumer ownership and allows that ownership to be transferred. It has ZERO to do with if it gets damaged before you get it, then it becomes your problem. That statement is no more true than saying people can travel back in time.

There are states where this is not true. There are states where you can insure a vehicle as long as it has a VIN #, with or without a title, in your possession or not.
💯% true. i live in michigan and got mine insured with a vin. one thing out of the way for when i go to pick up my car. gave them a date on when it is expected to arrive and it’s done. Turd, your statement is also flawed.

I tried to do the same and the answer was NO... My credit union told me that the car must be delivered to the dealer and I was ready to take delivery. I know it sucks. Ordered mine on 3/23 and rates are up 1.5 BPS already.

Well for dealer financing you can’t lock the rate until you show up and sign papers as said.

however, if you have a VIN you can get third party financing. I actually applied to NFCU as well before the car was built but I had a VIN. They used all the info and got me a loan and actually mailed me a check in my name for the car. I never cashed it because the dealer beat the offer. The check from NFCU was only good for 30 days so if the car didn’t show up by then I’d have to reapply again for a loan at NFCU and would get that current rate.
I guess I could have cashed it and waited for the car but then they need the title right away and I’d get in trouble somehow. Lol

As a motor vehicle dealer in Ohio and one who also sells many vehicles to WV residents, I can assure you you can finance and insure a motor vehicle with a certificate of origin. I can also tell you it takes about 60 days for WV to issue a title sold by a dealer. Their service is horrific. In Ohio you stop at the title office with propers papers and walk out with a title, or memo title if there is a lien.

As a followup, I can get a loan approved and lock in a rate without the vehicle on my lot, but it must close within 30 to 60 days depending on the bank. If not closed within 30 to 60 days the applicant must re apply for the loan at current rates. Of course to close the loan we must have the invoice and certificate of origin, the COO comes with the vehicle at delivery to dealership. Bottom line, we can get a loan approved without the vehicle on the lot, we cannot close a loan without the vehicle on the lot. Thats how it works for us, but one size does not fit all.

You can do that in Michigan as well, except for a new car that hasn't been built, or built without a title....once titled, you can do it all day long
My car has been built, just waiting on shipping. no title yet!! Gave them my vin, they verified my car and now have proof of insurance on my phone to show salesman. Sorry OP for the hijack

haha, i use the same.

a couple years ago NFCU had a 7.5% certificate available which could funded up to $100K and added to. After 24 mo. the $$ could be withdrawn.

also, if i understood correctly, USAA lowers annual replacement cost rates if not financed.

took total advantage of that. ;)

So you are saying you insured a car you don't own and with that proof paying for coverage on something you might not see for months? Sounds like great idea..
