Starting while in storage

Question,I put my HC Challenger in storage for the winter.I did all the prep: full tank of fuel with sta-bil,inflated the tires and put it up on ramps(race ready)etc.should I start it and let it run periodically or leave it sit and wait till I get it out in the spring?

Did you read the owners manual? Start there... I personally doubt I could go that long without hearing the kitty rev up, but if you can, it shouldn't be an issue. Just throw a battery maintainer on it and it should be good.

Trickle charger and let it sit until you can take it out and properly warm up, drive. Over inflate tires, fuel stabilizer, etc.

Agreed,what is your opinion?
I usually also do the trickle charger and try not to start it much. But every now n then if the weather is nice with no salt I'll take it out for a rip. I dont bother with over inflating. I just drive the flat spots out in the hopes of destroying the shit stock tires lol. Once the tires heat up - about a mile - theyre all good.

Its ok to start, but if you do let it run until it reaches operating temperature. Otherwise, yes always store with full tank, clean, clean oil, inflated tires and a trickle charger.

So what's the secret to getting the oil up to temp without driving?? Heck, I can barely get it warmed up a lot of times when driving, without going up a somewhat steep and long grade.

Unless by "operating temperature" you mean the relatively meaningless coolant temp.

You can powerbrake a little, now not crazy, I'm talking 800-900 rpm and that won't hurt a thing, even moving it in the garage back and forth will help get it warmed up. Probably will take a good 20-25 minutes to get the oil up to temp, oil temp now, don't look at the coolant temp.

And run your a/c compressor every time you start it like Dodge says.

Nah, I hate cold starts. Letting it sleep until it's time to actually driving it is so much easier.
And nicer to the car, I think.

The car doesn't know if it was run yesterday or 4 mo ago.. let it be..I've been storing cars for over 40 years during midwest winters in heated and ambient buildings and have never started any of them until the weather and the roads were good. never had an issue. treat the fuel and a trickle charger or take the battery out.

Just in case there are those reading this that don't know a basic trickle charger does not know or care about how much juice it pumps into a battery over time..a tender does know and only gives it what it needs to maintain it over a long period..

Or any decent battery maintainer. Ideally with desulfation.
