Ok, want to ask since I currently have a 2017 Hellcat with Harman Kardon stereo......Is it worth $2000 extra over the base Alpine. I really dont want to spend it if I dont have to.

my vote is no way. i had the HK in my 2015 and now the alpine in my 2019. something about the HK was just awful either the cross overs to the sub weren't right or the crossovers to all the other speakers.

Yes, not worth it. I had the Alpine base system in my 392 and did this. I upgraded the dash speakers, added my own amp and subwoofer, and LOVED the sound!!!!!!! Better than my HK in my current car! PLUS, that 15-speaker thing is BS. It's a bunch of dual-cone speakers in different locations.

I think it's worth having the HK. People say they only need to listen to the engine and all that...but most people listen to the radio in some form the entire time your in the car. I had the alpine in a previous scat pack challenger and it's a night and day difference. My wife even noticed the sound the first time we drove the hellcat together. First thing she mentioned was the how much better the exhaust sound was and then the Radio. She was like "this radio is way better than the other one".

Yes it is way over priced but it makes the car much better. I'm no audio person though, my 2 cents.

I read somewhere else that apparently it's much easier to wire in your own system with the HK. don't know if that's true or not.
This is the biggest reason I purchased the HK system, Its easier to replace than to add new in my book. All the wiring is there just need to upgrade the speakers to start.

I ordered a 2022 Charger Hellcat with the base Alpine and as I got closer to delivery I started to worry that it wouldn’t be enough as I was coming from a HK system in my 2021 5 series. I finally got my Hellcat and I can tell no difference in the sound between the Alpine and the HK. Would have been a waste of $2000 for me. I am the furthest thing from an audiophile so maybe take my experience with a grain of salt if you are more sensitive to that kind of thing

Can't speak on the Alpine but I'm on my second CHC with the HK. It's not bad overall, sounds pretty good with a decent source. I always want louder from a system but it probably saves me from myself.

Bet you recoup some value come resale time, bump in the book for sure.

Been itching real bad to add a 12" sub or two but just can't bring myself to let an installer butcher the wiring. Not sure why, it's never bothered before.

I'm 52 years old and the 80s really did a number my hearing with all the metal concerts so I am no audiophile either. I always thought the sound was ok and the HK and the volume was just ok. As long as the volume on Alpine is equivelent I won't notice the quality as much.

I have the HK in mine; it's good but I've heard better.

If the alpine sounds worse then I'd not be satisfied.

And as far as upgrading it yourself you can do that and it probably will be better than the HK, but keep in mind that will negatively affect resale compared to just having the HK. Especially if you have a Super STock, Demon, or top end Jailbreak people on the secondary market don't want them touched.

Audio is so subjective. I wasn't ever going to get the HK option but ended up getting a car with it and I do find it much better than the Alpine. It's louder, more bass, vocals are clearer. Is it amazing? No. Is it better than Alpine? Absolutely.

But again audio being as subjective as it is this is just my opinion on it.

I have both between my 2 cars. Like everyone else has said the hk has more bass for sure. If you want more bass than go hk otherwise flip a coin. Unless you’re a audiophile they are hard to tell apart imo.
