With a back ground in tech (Compaq and HP, before during and after merger) I've always been leery of putting high powered magnets near electronic gadgets. But then I'm sure they're safe if people haven't jumped up and down after having corrupted files on the phones. Interesting idea.

EDIT - biggest complaint I found for it was that one guy had the phone come loose on quarter-mile launch and go between the seat and console. lol says 3d printed in USA and donates small amount of purchase price to charity. Thanks for the find. If charger mount looks good, may pick one up.

So far i've launched my cat a few times hard and never had it come off. i guess it depends on how they put the metal plate on their phone.

as far as the magnet....it's 2019...we don't use magnetic discs anymore. it's all software flashed to a nand chip. magnets don't effect that data like they did on magnetic drives. i'd be more worried about cell reception, but i don't seem to have a problem.

I also have otter case and definitely will follow this one.
it will depend on where you put the little metal plate that comes with it. it will probably work just fine inside your case between the phone and case, but would be much stronger if put on the back outside of the case.

I prefer the proclip.
Doesn't the position of the phone with this stiffy mount get in the way of some of the controls as well as being super close to the A8 shifter in park?

I wasn't referring to magnets versus recording media (though I am old enough to remember when that was an existential no-no). I'm talking about the complications with magnetic fields for magnets inside the phone itself, and the ability to magnetize ferous parts of the phone. Just an example: In Apple's case design guidelines, there are sections on Sensor Considerations and Magnetic Interference, including the line, “Apple recommends avoiding the use of magnets and metal components in cases.”

Manufacturers have to ensure that the built-in magnetic compass is not affected by their cases. There’s also specific mention of the iPhone 6 Plus, because of potential problems magnets can cause for the autofocus rear camera with optical image stabilization.

That's more what I was getting at.

i looked at that one, but don't like intentions and marks in my dash and leather. shifter is a non issue and the only buttons it blocks are ones i rarely use. tuner knob i never use, a/c recirc and traction control. it's easy to reach around the thing for the TC button if i'm not doing it on the screen. haven't bothered me so far.

Thanks I think
not sure why the link didn't go to the right post, but here. they said it's coming in the next couple weeks.

I got mine yesterday and mounted it right away. The delivery to Switzerland was very fast, the holder is very fitting and looks very good. I will try it out and let you know in the near future.
