Track Update - Well looks like backing up the record will not happen for the black Hellcat tonight. Just got word that JC broke another driveshaft on the car. And also got a report that the nitrous system has been removed from the car. So no chance in hell they were going to back up that 10.48 tonight.
From texasdragracing.com Facebook page.

3rd mention of NOS kit on 10.48 "stock" hellcat. I'm not a hater, just saying with 109 racegas a "cheater" NOS 50 shot could give just that little bit of trap speed and ET

It would be nice if they had proof other than hearsay.

It's a possibility but then I'm thinking:

(1) You have to have a nitrous injection point.
(2) The stock throttle body on the Hellcat is 92mm
(3) The only people known to make a throttle body large enough with a nitrous injection point is Arrington.
(4) Arrington's 90mm nitrous throttle body is for the 5.7L and 6.1L and can't be used on 2013+ Challengers (rules out this possiblity).
(5) Then perhaps a 90mm nitrous throttle spacer, but then who makes that for Challenger?
(6) If not a throttle spacer, then what replacement tube was used in place of the rubber tube to support a nitrous injection point.
(7) If not that, then perhaps drill a hole for a ZEX system in the plastic air box.
(8) How did they tune the nitrous system?

You don't have to have a tune to run nitrous... I had a buddy with a srt10 ram that ran a 100 shot without a tune or any other mods for that matter.

Here is an idea... if you are going to say that you made a stock pass... don't have a kit in the car.

This is the good part.... If this guy was NOT using anything we have a car that is putting in the mid-700's HP down! If that fuel raises the HP 5% and consider that the premium portion of the tune allowed the ECM to go to the max advance allowed (which on pump gas cannot be reached on purpose?) and then that would net some more.... Well? I was reading somewhere this morning we have seen dyno's approaching 670 now. The track was great, the tires were good, the moon was in the correct phase.

BUT, I am still wanting to see someone at least back it up by getting close to a corrected mid-10 second run. Then I am fired up! Until then it seems like a great day to break 11. Can't wait to get mine and break it in before the tracks open up here.

Take a look at the Sneaky Pete system. It's just a simple solenoid/spray head that you mount in your intake path. At the end if the day NOS is just an oxegenator and if the OEM mass air and O2 sensors detect a lean condition they will add fuel (at least to the capacity of the fuel delivery system). With a high energy power added like a roots type blower, there are pretty advanced air/fuel maps already in the car.

So small shot systems give the same effect as low altitude/higher air density/lower air temp.

Adding s high octane race fuel to the party so that the knock sensor doesn't trigger allows the system to not retard the timing and lose power...
