LA make the CA progressive BS.

Can we expect regulations requiring people in CA to wear body armor to avoid getting shot/stabbed? Women to wear chasity belt to avoid getting raped?

Don't carry money.

Don't carry credit cards.

Don't wear any jewelry.

In fact just stay off the streets and stay home. Oh, but be sure to secure your house to make Fort Knox jealous to deter home break ins...

All the lawyer is arguing for is to require manufacturers to stamp the cats so that the parts can be tracked, which would in turn help combat the theft. Personally, I see nothing wrong with it.... its an added two seconds of time...

You know, this is some stupid stuff. In all these cases mentioned above, everything is blamed (guns, parking, sodas, food etc.) EXCEPT the person. BUT it's funny how in a drunk driving case they don't blame the vehicle. It always & only the driver.
So why can't it be the shooter, or the drinker? We are so screwed up as a society anymore, it's sad, just sad.

That would serve no purpose as they steal these things to sell the substrate, All the crooks will do is cut the cans open and toss the metal.

The real issue is how much the palladium and rhodium are selling for. I've read articles about enterprising entrepreneurs who are vacuuming city streets and recovering microscopic amounts of that stuff to recycle.

Or just grind off the numbers.

Really the places that buy these stolen converters even if the seller doesn't come out and announce they are stolen have to suspect something's going on when the same person comes in every so often with a converter or two.

BTW, today's palladium price is $1,936.50/ounce. Rhodium is $11,650/ounce! Yes, $11,650/ounce.

Damn, where's my hack saw?

Uh, just one problem. The actual amount of the above and other (platinum for example, but who cares? Selling for just $984/ounce...) metals in the converter is quite small. Converter makers are very good at ensuring a uniform coating but a very thin coating -- my info is not even a complete coating just grains of the metals scattered about -- close to one another to be sure but not touching -- on the converter substrata. The result is there is approx. $200 or so of platinum, palladium and rhodium present in a converter. Not chump change if one has a converter or two to sell that he came by legally.

Well this is where we’re at now. When Hellcats gets stolen it’s the owners fault for parking in wrong spot. When people get shot it’s the guns fault. When people get fat it’s the sodas fault. Now when catalytic converter’s get stolen you guessed it it’s the Manufactures fault. It’s never ever the person fault. LOL View attachment 581167
Brought to us by moron Gascon, who does not believe society should incarcerate anyone…he’s basically a public defender masquerading as a criminal prosecutor.
