There has been a rash of stolen Chargers and Challengers in the Birmingham area! A couple reports of young teens bumping cars from behind and when the driver gets out to check on the damage, they are robbed of their vehicle. Another happened as a kid was waiting in a parking lot at night for a midnight game release and a guy came up to him chatting up about his car and asked to see the key, then stole it at gunpoint and there were at least 50 other people out there at the time. None of the other vehicles stolen were Hellcats, but I'd still be careful. I was just down there two weeks ago and had no idea about this going on. Be careful out there folks! I had one guy come up to me at a parking lot admiring the car and he wanted to see the key and first thing I did was check my surroundings and immediately became defensive in my posture and he sensed it and kept his distance. Turned out he had a pretty sweet Chally and was just interested in the hellcat, but still gave me a minute of pause.

They tried Uconnect and they weren't getting a response. The dealership stated they still had his keys, but he asked them how they knew it was his keys and not another car. No security camera... it sounds to me like it was an inside job. He went to the spot where the car was, no broken glass or tire marks, so it sounds fishy to me.

UConnect only works if you file a police report, then have the police contact UConnect directly. Only then will UConnect attempt to locate the vehicle. By the time that happens, the car is probably thousands of miles away or out of the country. So UConnect is basically worthless for stolen car recovery.

And if you disconnect the battery on the car, the UConnect system goes down anyway. Car can be transported to any number of places where the signal cant reach it or pull the components from the car.
