Stolen Redeye Dallas

13063 Views 138 Replies 52 Participants Last post by  Spartacus
Hi Folks--just posting for the first time unfortunately. On Friday (27 May) had my 21 Redeye Chally stolen from parking garage at the Westin in Las Colinas. Tried getting Sirius Guardian to give police the location but Irving police don't seem that interested in finding it. Garage had video and the thugs were in two chargers.

If you're in the Dallas area could you all please keep a lookout for it?

It's Smokeshow and all stock except for clear bra and kept the yellow chin guard on it. License plate was at the time PFN-1636.

Thanks a lot.

On insurance, it took a long time but finally got an offer from USAA. It wasn't horrible but was definitely a challenge finding appropriate comps as the widebody red-eyes are so rare. I think it was low by maybe $4k. With that said, even though it was a decent offer will still be a challenge to replace with the crazy high dealer markups--if a dealer can even get an allocation. If anyone know a dealer near Houston that would allow me to put an order in for MSRP, please let me know.

I guess the only good thing is I finally have "closure" and a pretty crazy story and pics. I was sure it had been taken apart and sold for the engine and tranny but there must be some sort of stolen pipeline for these cars. Cops did say they found a lot of drugs and money in the car.

Was hoping part of your story included how the occupants died inside and the interior had signs of a slow and scary death.

and yes, for all you Karens out there, that is how I really feel. Let the Father and Son decide what is to happen to the thieves. Lord knows, those thieves walked away knowing they can do it again.

maybe too, they’ll drink in celebration of escaping only to die in their sleep because of the concussion and alcohol. One can only hope.

Enter, stranger, but take heed
Of what awaits the sin of greed,
For those who take, but do not earn,
Must pay most dearly in their turn,
So if you seek beneath our floors
A treasure that was never yours,
Thief, you have been warned, beware
Of finding more than treasure there.

I can't imagine how these thugs steal a car and keep it it for a month and just drive it around. I am curious how many miles they put on it. It really angers me how callous people are, but then look at last month - Uvalde, Highland Park. The world has gone mad.
yep, big disappointment the cops didn't get these guys or better yet shoot them in the knees first so they could suffer and then the head to make sure they don't do this again. But cops said "people run fast when they have adrenalin going through them"...
Wow…and I was really hoping that this was going to finally be the post where someone says “we caught the thief and their face is now unrecognizable“. How the hell they got away is amazing in itself considering the carnage. Hopefully you can be back in a replacement soon. Thx for providing an update!

Back in the days when the law meant something, they’d hang a piece of shit for stealing a man’s horse.

I was really hoping whomever stole it died.

Wow you guys are saints, why want them to die? their troubles are over, no need to have a job, pay rent, pay taxes, that tumor is now a non issue, their problems are over. I'd prefer lifelong pain from serious injury and crushing medical bills. Slow scary death? How about a painfilled miserable long life. So much more satisfying seeing them suffer for years :devilish:

Okay maybe not, but I would like to see some real criminal charges pressed. Don't move to WA, Cops now consider car theft a misdemeanor and would have to find a pound of Meth or a DB in the car to do anything but report it and have impounded. Literally two separate car thieves were let go by the cops after being pulled over in the past two weeks that I know of. In my county 40 cars were reported stolen over 4th Weekend, we had a guy spend 8 hours one Sunday pulling the cats off 4 of our trucks. Weekend before had trucks broken into and blowers stolen, tracked them down on Ebay and identified the culprits. They were driving a stolen car, we had the serial numbers and matched them up, they had warrants, cops let them go but we took our blowers back at least. Whoever said crime doesn't pay doesn't know WTF they are talking about because it seems to be paying pretty well with little or no consequences.

You can thank your legislature and district attorneys for the soft on crime attitude. Cops dont make the laws nor do they prosecute criminals either.

Stealing horses was a hanging crime. I stand by what I said.

Might be worth having an attorney or the insurance company file a claim on the cash found in the car.
It should be yours to help cover your losses.

I could see how this goes wrong for OP. "The cash was yours? ..And how about the drugs?"

The cops aren't idiots, they know where the drugs & money came from.

OP should be entitled to sue for any assets that can be recovered to offset his losses.
It may very well be enough to cover his attorney's fees as well as his losses.

It's very common for offenders to be required to pay restitution.

Cops don't need to be idiots to also know that anything confiscated in the commitment of a crime can be seized and held in evidence until being forfeited to the department.

I'm happy to bet a nickel the OP would never see a dime.

If you find cash and turn it in and no one claims it in a certain amount of time you are entitled to a portion of the amount, if the cash is confiscated as part of a crime investigation unless you can prove it's yours you are entitled to nothing, jurisdictions will vary.

What the cops "know" doesn't mean squat, they carry the burden of proof. I have had cops apologize for writing a ticket because the estimated damage exceeded $800 and they were required to even though they didn't agree with the policy, it was my car that was damaged and I was fined for it.

You can sue anyone over anything if you can get a lawyer to file, even if you win no guarantee you'll ever see a penny. Plenty of guys in jail making 25 cents an hour paying restitution.
Not sure why everyone's so upset, that should buff right out.

That was really my point here is just have a lawyer or his insurance company file a claim on the cash on his behalf.
No guarantee the claim would succeed.
