Anyone seen this? Work Play Drive seems pretty reputable. I subscribe to this guy's YouTube channel and usually find his advice and recommendations reliable.

I posted about this in my other thread. Stumbled across the Tazer update in a TRX forum. So yes, seems legit. The info on that forum is coming from BrawlerFab a Tazer distributor that also does custom fab for the TRX. Which brings up the point @2ndgen makes. For the TRX, that distributor is also making a lock box/bracket/thingamajig. I've asked if A: the update is good for Challengers on the regular Tazer and if 2: BrawlerFab would do a lock bracket thingy for said Challengers

Glad to see this could be real with the Tazer

This looked pretty good until they said the PIN could be reset. Yeah it takes 10 minutes, but in some cases that won’t be much of a deterrent. They should make erasability optional. And as already stated, the potential for physical removal is an issue. This could be useful in tandem with something like a Compustar I suppose.

BrawlerFab is also on these forums. Maybe he can answer some questions about it here. @-Boosted-

Unless they discovered a way to add new behavior to the factory computers, then yes, the Tazer would have to be plugged in for these features to work.
Right some things have to be ran from the Tazer itself. Others get enabled in the BCM by turning flags on or off.

The reprogramming of steering wheel buttons is a good example. In that case, Tazer intercepts the signal from the buttons, then sends a different command instead. So the unit has to be plugged up. Enabling SRT modes for cars that didn't come equipped with them is an example of enabling a feature that is already in the BCM.

Had a chance to watch the video, and this is definitely an example of a Live feature (ran from Tazer). It is using some of the same logic like Line Lock does to manually engage the brakes.

This update is real (it’s a Live Feature that requires the Tazer to be plugged in) and will be available for the Challenger/Chargers real soon. I’ve been testing it in my TRX for several weeks and we’ve cleaned up all the bugs and nanny’s so it’s good to go.

I’ve also been working with ZAutomotive to fine tune the feature for our cars as I did not want to have to create a security device for the Tazer like I did for our TRX and JL/JT customers and this is what we came up with while having a few drinks in one of the lounges at Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas. lol

If you have your Tazer mounted in the trunk like I do, then your in luck. When activated (pin sequence not keyed in, the Tazer will lock your trunk so the access to the Tazer will be more difficult. You can also add the Tazer shield (product we created for the TRX and Jeep customers so if the thief did manage to access the Tazer through the rear seat, they still won’t be able to unplug the Tazer.

Thanks to this update, my Super Stock is safer than its ever

What happens if you have a Tazer and an IGLA? Will the Tazer prevent button presses from getting to the IGLA? Assuming you don't enter the Tazer menus, I'm hoping it will just let the button presses pass through normally, and the IGLA would then see them, right?

I agree. 10 minutes to reset PIN makes no sense. I hope they rethink this. I would not make it permanent but make it an hour or two or some other solution that is not defeated in 10 minutes.

As for the removal of the Taser, what if the OEM unit that was unplugged is removed from the car? I'm assuming these wires can't just be left unplugged. Would the car start if they were?

I'm interested if improvements are made to the reset function.

Definitely interested if the reset function was longer, more agreeing with the 1-2 hour reset.

I hear you all, my thought was originally about someone stealing the car out of your driveway and that a thief wouldn’t sit in a running car for 10 minutes with lights flashing while waiting…
But I suppose in an airport lot or parking garage they have more time.
I’ll change it to user selectable (before you set the pin or when it’s unlocked) and give some options up to say 8 hours. I’m still going to make it mandatory that it’s running and hazards are on.
I am working on a method to also make the vehicle not drivable after the lock is triggered, in a way that removing the Tazer won’t matter.
This is just the beginning. This is the beauty of having an updateable device. The possibilities are endless!

Keep the suggestions coming. I am not often on the forums but I do see posts from time to time!

Also, I can block keys from being added to the RF Hub. I originally didn’t do that as I WANTED the truck to start and bring attention to it, rather than have someone messing with it quietly. Seems it’s something people want so I can do that.
But now I’m thinking rather then just keep them from pairing a key, when the Tazer detects someone ATTEMPTING to pair a key I’ll have it set off the light show and (selectable) horn. Not only will the key not be paired but they’ll have to deal with that too. And I’ll pair that with the intentional bricking from my earlier post so if they do rip out the Tazer and pair a key they still won’t get anywhere.
