I traded my 05 duramax in on a 07 prius. Got tired of paying $4.90 a gallon for diesel. We were transferred to michigan for one year and I was over paying 145 bucks to fill up my diesel. we were /are texas residents. I will tell you this about the car. It is amazing when it comes to fuel mileage. It soon was our go to car. At the time my wife was driving her jeep liberty and that was harder on fuel than my duramax. I drove that as my daily for 3 more years. Then we gave it to my parents as my dad has a 100 mile a day commute. Here in houston traffic is a bear, and going slow that thing gets 50 mpg or better. you can do a technique called pules and glide. Thats when you just tap the pedal enough to get the car to move and once its going just keep taping the pedal and it uses only battery.. and its not like i was only going 5 mph. So on the down side people who own these try and get the most MPGs they can its like a person game to them. It was for me as well. so they tend to move at a snails pace. which has gave the car a bad name.I know its cool to make fun of this car, as I did so before owning it. But I will tell you this. My dad is a ruff neck hillbilly who drive a tractor on the weekend and rides his side by side in the woods. But he now leaves the truck at home and drive the prius. But if I lived in a small town and had no commute thats not the car for you. well maybe if you want to spend 10 bucks a month on gas. lol. But they are boring to drive!!!!!
