Getting ready to pull the trigger on a new redeye or possibly super stock. I only plan on using the car on weekends and local car events. My only concern is the tires on the super Stock for Street driving, I understand that they are not to be used in the rain for obvious reasons. Has anyone replaced the stock tires on there super stock for a more streetable tire, if so what did you use? Also is there anything else that I should be concerned about with the SS for the type of use I intend? Thanks

The tires are fine for street driving. They won't last as long obviously, but if its just for weekends and car shows they are fine. Local car show guys notice the tires first in fact. As far as getting stuck in the rain, unless you are road tripping with it a quick look at the radar should tell you if you are safe or not.

if youre not going to drag why buy the super stock? get a redeye with tires you can use in the rain and bigger brakes for everyday driving. (not that you'd ever use the limits of the ss brakes) but the larger calipers look better behind the 20" wheels. it's not really a lesser car it just provides you with more of a daily driver.

You have very few options to replace the tires on the same 18" wheels (and they're all Nitto). Right now, the other Nitto tires are mostly unavailable. I planned to replace the fronts with a little less sticky tire, but my tire shop has had them on order for almost 2 months now. Fortunately (I guess) my car hasn't shown up yet either...

Can’t go wrong with Michelin if your looking for a tire you can use in the rain, has decent grip, and won’t stick to ever pebble on the road Lol.

Find the wide body guys selling the 20's for drag set ups or blinging extra wide 20's yet not buying a super stock and use 20's for daily driving... I have had zero issues with driving on the drag radials.. they corner better than I expected.... Tire ware is going to be $$ on the 555's unless you love the rims than only choice is what Hemi dave pointed 2...

Will Hemi Daves tire option last longer than the original drag radials and are they better for street driving and god forbid rain?

thanks

I drive on the drag radials as I only do dinner/ cars and coffee and trailer on a drag pack to the strip but my understanding is yes. I am thinking of doing the 20's to just drive around on for dinner/ week end cruise.

Sounds good. Does the SS lack anything that the Redeye has to offer as a daily driver. Does it have all the amenities of a Redeye or is something missing? Want the SS, I feel it will be a little more collectible down the road as well as fewer of them in the street.

Thanks

Nitto made that with the Demon owner in mind for street use.
It will 100% last WAY longer than drag radials but don't expect them to grip like a drag radial because they are not drag radials.

Some Demon owners run then only in the front, and others run them all around.

Its the only street tire I know of made in the stock 18inch Demon/Super stock size.

I doubt it is more collectable but could be wrong. I like the look of the stock 18's and I like to drag race and did not drive my redeye in the rain often. It is way more manageable on the street DRY than the redeye as the back end does not slide around at a high throttle.. brakes if you are not road racing are a wash per most car mags unless racing around corners/ road racing course... its the rain and the tires which make it non daily drivable... Also tire ware but redeyes have that issue as well ;-).

Its personal choice and what you want..
Corners redeye.
Dailey tires Redeye.

I just suggest black or octane red.
