I put a set of Continental ExtremeContact Sports on my '15 SRT 392 about a year ago (stock wheels, 275/40R20).

They've been great and are still giving me good off the line traction.

I just checked the tread depth and had them rotated for the second time. They are about 6-7/32s (more in front, less on rears).

So in about 5000 miles of driving the've gone from what I presume was 10/32s to 6-7/32s.

If I call these done at 4/32s, then I probably have 3000-4000 miles left on them (or less).

That would be 8000-9000 miles of aggressive driving on a sticky summer tire. Seeing as I am doing all short fast trips around town, I am guessing this is about right? 8000-10000 on a summer tire with aggressive driving is about what to expect?

What are you guys seeing for tire life on your summer tires?

I am curious if a different brand of summer tire would have any longer life?

The Continental ExtremeContact Sport had very similar performance ratings when I bought them to the top of the line Michelin Super Sports at about a 1/3 lower price. Anyone have experience with both Continentals and Michelins on their Dodge?

Just a guess, but I’m assuming you’re spinning tires a lot and leaving rubber on the road. I’m not near that aggressive with my P-Zeros, and I have 9,800 miles on them so far and will probably make it to 15K. Others don’t make it past 10K. Summer tires are a softer compound for traction so they’ll never last near as long as all season tires. With your style of driving, you may need new tires more often...

Yep, definitely some spinning. Not doing burnouts. But fast stoplight starts. Always trying to find that sweet spot where I get the fastest start with the minimal to no spin. But sometimes I spin em.

They spin when you don't think they are spinning. I often see two stripes behind me when I don't think they are spinning. I get just a few thousand out of anything with these cars. Never more than a season. I like acceleration and noise.

Don't they come with a 30,000 mile tread warranty? I know Michelin Pilot 4S does. I'd personally run the tire to the wear indicator bar, but I don't drive in rain.

My 2018 Hellcat has around 13K miles on its tires and based on the rate of wear I believe the tires will easily last double that 13K miles or even more. Probably stating the obvious but I do not drive the car real aggressively. Red light gran prix starts and sliding around corners is not my style of driving.

I am not a fan of experimenting with tires to find longer wearing tires. One has to play with tread wear ratings, and other things, and in doing so may end up with tires on the car that compromise the car's handling or on road behavior in ways that are not satisfactory.

Thus I stay with factory sanctioned tires.

If you do the same, and I recommend you do, the only way you are going to get better tire life is to cool your jets and drive the car in a way that doesn't subject the tires to accelerated wear.

Thanks Rockster for sharing your mileage expreience - I am happy with the Continentals. They grip better than the stock pirellis, are quiet and give a smooth freeway ride as well.

I might run these to the 2/32nds wearbart Nitemare. Depends on how wet or dry our "winter" here in San Diego winds up being this next year.

And yeah, they do have a 30,000 mile treadwear warranty. The fine print of the warranty says racing and wheel spinning are not covered though. Hmmm... not sure if the guys are discount tire are gonna wanna turn these in for a warranty credit or not.

I have stock summer Pirellis, and wear seems to be minimal at 7,000 miles. I don't drive crazy aggressive, but do like to enjoy the car at times. No burnouts, except when I was trying to figure out launch control...lol. I would expect to get about 15,000 miles out of these. The way it looks I may get 20k but would probably change before then as ride quality deteriorates.

I quit worrying about it and just justify it with the "pay to play" saying. The Hellcat was a tire shredder, I don't have a name for this Redeye yet. But this thing is capable of much worse damage.

The rears on my Extreme Contact Continentals only lasted 3,800 miles on my hellcat. I like to have fun and besides, I always drive it like I stole it The tire store said those tires have a mileage warranty and only charged me $245 to replace them. I say for as much fun as I had it was well worth it!
