So I never noticed prior to buying the car how severe the marks are from the molding of the taillights. I thought someone shot my car up with bb guns until I just noticed theyre all in the same exact spits on both sides of the taillights. Anyone else have this? Included a few pics for reference, but theres 25 spots like these total.

In my previous life I designed many injection molded parts. These parts with the clear glossy finish are the most expensive and difficult to mold. I never got involved with any of these difficult parts but I understand the myriad of problems they face. I hoped that someone with more experience would pipe up, maybe a toolmaker, so for now here is my semi educated guess: These might be vent holes, to release air in the die to make sure the polymer flows smoothly and evenly without restrictions.

Hopefully someone with more direct experience will provide input.

These are mass produced cars. Your paying for the badge and driveline, everything else you can get on a v6. Seeing a injection site thats not polished ( both my 16 and 19 too ) is to be expected. You could always just buff that sh*t out! I dunno,, before I had a certain shop mess with mine it was pretty bada** with the little imperfections.

Buff 'er out!

i’ve got them too. i am a toolmaker and am pretty sure those are from the ejector pins that push the part out of the mold. don’t understand why they would be on the finished side tho. poor fitment and qc should catch stuff like that and get it repaired.

I haven’t seen a Charger or challenger without them. Whatever is causing it would almost assuredly take a new / updated process for creating the part.

it would also mean that they don’t consider this a defect to be fixed. I mean the lids have had these likely since the models came out those many years ago.

Same here. Doesn’t bother me that much. I don’t have too many.

But I hate the swirl marks on the shiny black piece in the middle. With the letters D O D G E on it. Wolfgang’s quick detailer spritz (not sure if it has Sio2 in it) works really good, just dilute it with some water

People keep saying it's because it's a mass-produced car, as if that's a valid excuse. In the case of Hellcat models and above, the quality standards should be greater. Of course they're not, because then the CEO and shareholders of Stellantis would have less money to dump into their olympic size swimming pools

Cant buff them out of mine, theyre indented to the point that they seriously could fit a bb into each one. It's no exageration that it looks like someone shot it up with a bb gun. I hadn't planned to do much after market but I may have to look for resolution there.

I have a little bump like that on the bottom side of my mirrors. Both sides the bump is in the same location. I was thinking it was from the mold as well. Anyone else notice this?
I went over mine with some ceramic detail spray the other day and didn't notice it. Where are they on the mirrors?

I dunno, maybe try using some clear epoxy or some filler. You can buff it out if its that big of a deal. Good luck.

I thought it was from the nozzle heads on the injectors when they made the parts, 2nd Amend's air vents also make sense. A high-end manufacturer might go back and grind down and buff it out, or use better equipment.

These cars are built to burn, I try to embrace the imperfections, big gaps in trunk lid and doors, ancient technology (The original Uconnect was developed 20 years ago with small improvements over time, that's ancient), sea of vinyl; they aren't pretty but it's what also keeps these cars "cheap" in comparison to a BMW, if Dodge built them to Mercedes, BMW standards then they'd be starting around $120K.

I’m super happy the major stuff on my ‘22 Hellcat is doing great.

The power train, technology, electronics, etc..

Had my car detailed and windows tinted. There’s dried up water or whatever fluids for tinting windows they used on my dashboard. The new tinted windows need to be cleaned. There’s several streaks. And I got raped $$$ from the detail shop on my black paint and tints.
But like I said look at the positives. The drivetrain and electronics are great! After 1k miles.

‘Gonna put it away pretty soon. Actually I’ll just put a trickle charger on it and car cover. Lol.

Bottom line. Don’t worry about minor shit. On these cars.
