Was wondering if anyone has tooken out there front passenger and rear seats altogether and noticed a difference at the track?

Has it made a big difference or not worth the hassle of removing them all for track days?

How many tenths shaved off your time when you had the seats removed?

It's good for about a tenth.

I don't understand?
These cars are heavy. Shaving 100lb can result in savings of up to .1, but if you can't hook, shaving weight has diminished returns. WIth Hellcats, it's always best to sort your tire and traction enhancing components before you start putting the car on a diet.

Ahh I see, thanks for the explanation. I have no problem hooking with my car at the track. I run 305-45-17 MT street R's and can mash the pedal off the line and dead hook. So yes even if I did a little weight savings the car can afford it as I have sticky tires and track prep is pretty good.

On my '55 A/Gas car, I use weights in the trunk on the street, othwerwise it's almost undriveable. They are against regs for competition use, but they do a good job of keeping her fat butt on the pavement when I take it out for a rare drive. I never tried that with the Hellcat. The Hellcat spins, but it isn't unmanageable. It would be interesting to see what's faster though... 300lb or so over the axles or no weights and stripped interior.

I bought $800 light weight battery and tried with a minimum fuel load of 1/3 tank, and took everything possible out of the trunk area so weight savings was about 125 lbs, car did better street 1/4’s heavy so it all went back in and I run as full a tank as possible as much as possible. Weight shaving is good but it’s got to be in the right area for sure.

Yeah, that's the kicker I'm getting at. Shifting the weight bias towards the rear. Hellcats are hella nose heavy. You can shift that weight bias with extra soft rear springs and do some more rear end geometry work, but the cheap route is to just add weight. Too much weight will slow you down of course, but it would be interesting to find out what that perfect balance is.

Back when the Hellcats first came out there were guys who were setting better records than Dodge had. Someone asked me How was that possible? There were videos and ET slips.
During the T&T and R&D of Tuning and Parts you will notice in Mine and My Husband @Top Cat 's videos , you will see us sitting in our Hellcats. All those record setters you would just see the guys line up and race the track! They were taking out the passenger seat and some also had taken out the back seat for weight reduction to gain a better ET = New Stock record.

For every 10lbs of rotational mass you drop, you'll gain .1 in your 1/4 mile time.

Thanks. If it's just a tenth I don't think it's worth taking them out.
There are some serious bracket racers will take the weight out to hit a number, but as the Da changes they have weights to put in their trunks to adjust for a cooler air.

Linda I'm sorry but 10 lbs of any weight, even rotational is not going to result in a .1 reduction in 1/4 mile ET.

Well, I just copied a quote off the net.............I went Fassssster With Mods and a Tune ;)

Somewhere on here there is an answer as to the weight of the passenger seat taken out of a Challenger and the Better ET from doing so.

Linda :)
