Tazer reads and writes to your BCM and can unlock or add all sorts of cool stuff. Only issue I have found is that if you unmarry it later, not everything goes back to oem. This can be important for troubleshooting other systems later as the puters all work together. Not sure why this isn’t in the instructions but if you follow this simple step you will be able to go back to oem BCM programming later

• CREATE A BACK UP FILE AND SAVE IT ON YOUR PC BEFORE YOU CHANGE ANYTHING! Here’s how:
  • On your PC download the newest version of ZPU: Z Automotive Programming Utility – Z Automotive Complete the installation by following the instructions.
  • Once installed, connect your tazer to your pc using a USB cable, then plug the tazer into your obdII port. The ignition does not need to be on.
  • Open up the Programming Utility. Look for "Configure Device" as shown below:

  • Once you've clicked it the utility will auto discover your device and load a menu. First wait for it to finish loading and then select the "Utilities" tab.

  • Press the read button.
  • The utility will begin to capture the configurations from your BCM, a progress bar will show this progress.
  • Once the read has been completed, a save file prompt will open asking you where to save your capture.
  • Save this file to a place you can find it. It will be named BCMconfig.txt

  • If you ever lose this you will have also lost the oem programming for your bcm so don’t lose it

If I may add ✍🏼
*in case you do change some stuff and forget To backup a file and get rid of the tazer, There’s also AlfaOBD software (needs OBD Link MX+) (if you are 2019+ Need tazer bypass cable) you can go into the BCM and change everything to stock if you know what your looking for. If you don’t there’s a way to revert the BCM through the software, but that’s beyond me lol

You can also send your configuration file (and your vin) to Ian and he will give it to his engineer who will make it the way he ‘thinks’ it started off, but the only way to know it’s oem is to follow the directions above BEFORE you change ANYTHING and have the file saved so you can write it back to the bcm

*Ian seems like a good guy. Wish I woulda known this ^^^ tho AFTER reading the instructions and BEFORE pushing any buttons. Other than this unfortunate fact (creating a back up not being at the top of the instructions) I like the tazer a lot

Well then you are in the same boat I am. Except I am troubleshooting and need a oem bcm. Highly unlikely it’s connected to what I have going on but it’s something I need to rule out

I log the runs I make at the track and I am seeing variations in how my transmission is shifting from run to run. I don’t want to clutter this all up with that nonsense. I’ll figure what is going on there. Have good people helping me. Hope mod makes this a sticky or Ian starts putting it at the top of the instructions

The marrying process makes a backup of your original settings. The issue is marrying to an already modified BCM, then Tazer uses that as the backup. If you marry to a complete stock BCM, it will revert fully on unmarry. The sleep cycle is what people miss most often and think it didn't undo all the changes.

But great tip on how to save the file manually. Could be very useful if someone has a couple of cars they want to use a Tazer to enable something.
