for those of you who got the technology group package (auto wipers/high beams, forward collision detection and adaptive speed control) on your challenger hellcats, is it worth it??

i already placed my factory order and didn't opt for the package, but i'm having some second thoughts now. jake from dan cummins quoted me an extra $1200 for the technology group. seems like a steep price for what the package offers

thoughts??

Some people like it but I had it on my 2015 SRT and also my 2016 Hellcat and found all of it to be fairly useless. The auto hi-beams never worked correctly on both cars, they would switch down when the headlights would hit a sign yet not when an oncoming car was approaching. Both cars. I dont drive my toys in the rain so the auto wipers were never a factor. The forward collision thing was a PIA tbh lol. It would go off and scare the hell out of me when I was nowhere near anyone. The whole package for me was a waste of cash. When I ordered my Redeye I skipped it, no regerts lol.

Do not get the package.

Anything that includes "forward collision detection" does it slam on the brakes for you, also? Do you not see things coming in front of you?

I played with some dude with his adaptive cruise control one day. I did not know this even existed at the time. I noticed he was behind me no matter what on a long highway, so I just drifted slower and slower and slower down to about 20mph, and he was so busy nattering to the guy beside him in the truck he didn't even notice, but his adaptive cruise control was keeping the same distance. It was funny to watch them trailing me at 20 in a 60 zone and then suddenly wake up to the fact that they were going so slow, and pull out and pass me in the other (same direction, divided four-lane highway) lane.

I never knew for years why someone would be that spaced out, pun not intended, until I found out about adaptive cruise control.

But, yeah, you do you, I guess.

Come to think of it, I have even come to a full stop with someone following me in the right lane. (anti-surveillance technique) and they stopped, too. Then they pulled around and expressed some displeasure at me for waking them up, I guess.

The mirror indicator lights/chime (alerts when another vehicle in adjacent lane) saved my bacon more than once.

Or is that a different package… Driver convenient group perhaps?

I have the stuff mentioned above (cruise assist, rain sensing wipers, etc).

The only one I’ve used is the auto dim headlights. No issues.

The blind spot rear detection IMO is a must but that's part of the driver convenience pkg.

For the tech pkg, I'm the opposite. All 3 challengers I owned had the auto high beams and they worked well and I still like em. This is the first car with the adaptive cruise and I do like it a lot and I used it. The only thing I dont like is the auto wipers. I turn those off but the rest I like. The auto warning I have set to just yell at me not brake for me. worth $1200? Dunno thats up to you.

I enjoy both the adaptive cruise and wipers. Forward collision is good with the braking turned off. It can see things further ahead than you. I was once in the freeway at night cruising along when it started yelling to brake. My headlights finally showed what it was screaming for, a GIANT GOOSE in the middle of my lane. The cruise is good, set it to 85 and just go, yeah if you don't pay attention and the dingleberry in front goes to slow you slow down, but just pass.

I think if it all worked as designed then I'd be a fan. But my experience has been negative so I'm not. I love gadgets and techy new stuff so it's disappointing.

I have this in my SRT Jeep and enjoy it for road trips. It makes my drive from Chicago to Vail much more enjoyable.

Im not sure Id need it on my Hellcat though as I dont intend to do longggg roadtrips.

Definitely a different package. I have the mirror warning thingies, not the idiot radar.

I am not arguing its function, but I and some others prefer to not having an electronic system that MAY decide, like Ford's trucks that have locked their owners out when the keys were inside, to enable itself and surprise me.

The best way to prevent something is to make it impossible, not just unlikely.
