Test drove a Z06 other day thinking about adding to the herd, after
driving the car was not that impressed, car was noisy from road,
rear end chattered when turning sharp which I found out is normal
for those cars. didn't pull as hard as my Cat. Cat is 10 times better
road car, it was fun though to drive.

We had a 2014 C7 for 3 years. Fun and great handling car. But I am just not a sports car guy. Not comfortable enough for me. But for those how like twisties and track days am sure they offer a lot of car for the money. GM added more cooling to the Z06 after 2016 or 17 I believe…

That was a dream car for me for a long time but I never had the means and now that I do I am just not as interested as I used to be (getting old + family). Maybe if my Z28 dies I will look at picking one up to play with but for now I just toss them a thumbs up when I see them.

2017, cooling was improved. The LT4 supercharger lid on the 2015 and 2016 models was starving the intercooler bricks for air. They redesigned it in 2017 with a taller lid to remedy the issue since some Z06's were overheating their IC temps when tracking them and going into limp home mode. The ZL1 has even better cooling the Z06, part of the reason I decided on the ZL1 instead of the Z06 even though I'm partial to Corvettes.

I went from a 392 to my Z06... it's apples and oranges compared to a hellcat. Hellcat is a proper muscle car while Z06 is a proper track car. Not the one is better than the other just very two different things.

I had 4 Vetts before switching to "Hellcat Power"... Actually had two 392's between the Vetts and Hellcat's... I liked the Vetts but they were just to cramped/uncomfortable for me. As I got a little older getting in and out of the Vetts became a real PIA... :)

Strange the C7 Z didn't feel as it pulls harder than the Cat because stock for stock it is the faster car. Like BLKOUT mentioned the 2017 or even newer would be the way to go as they remedied the cooling issue in the 2017s and up. The M7 transmission seems to not have the cooling issues as opposed to the A8.

I'd like to get into a C7 Z06 one day but few of its flaws such as cooling issues, rear end twitchiness/ unpredictably when pushing hard in the corners, oem wheels cracking and or bending, their A8 transmission shudders as well as not being that responsive, has made me a little hesitant.

Where the Z06 seems to fall short with the flaws I mentioned, the ZL1 seems to have none of those issues. This is definitely not to deter you away from the Z06 as I'm sure those flaws can be remedied with some sort of aftermarket support.

I admire those beautiful Z06s and still may look into one but at the same time the ZL1s are great too and maybe less issues to deal with, so something to consider. I'm a performance guy at heart and usually always like to upgrade to the faster car which is going to be the Z06 even though the ZL1 maybe the better engineered car.

OP give another Z06 a shot, maybe that one had issues.

I'm having a chuckle reading about people thinking they would look into getting a Z06. If you have any thought of getting the C8 Z06 you better have DEEP POCKETS or be ready to wait at LEAST 4 years to get one because the MSRP dealers have lists are at least 4 years long and probably longer. If you are willing to pay about $50,000. over MSRP you MIGHT get one in a year or two!

I'll know this year after we place our order in a few more weeks and it arrives later this year. High demand vehicle though, what do you expect?

C8 z06 most people are asking for MSRP Plus $100k now, it has become ridiculous!
Supply and demand. Demand is EXTREMELY high.

We were able to buy the third 2009 camaro SS off production line when they came back due to being GM suppliers and having inside contacts at GM performance. I inquired about the Z06 and when I could get one months ago. The outlook ain’t pretty
