Hi All,
I wanted to post an update to the saga that was purchasing a used Hellcat sight unseen..
Lets recap.. I initially purchased a 2015 B-5 Challeneger HC M6 with 20k miles from a dealer in Illinois described in my thread titled “New member from Vermont” as you saw on the thread the car was not as described and had numerous mechanical issues. Although I really wanted a manual car I couldn’t accept the damages and thrashing the car had been through. I definitely thought I was up the creek without a paddle… I brought the car to Quintin Brothers Auto (they build sema cars and had their Challenger stolen on the way to sema a couple years ago. They ran through the car and determined it was tuned and abused, the supercharger bearings were shot, trans had 2nd gear issues, the car had hit something severe and damaged the crossmember, the list went on.. ultimately $25k worth of repairs to make the car useable. I was devastated and unsure if the dealer would in the end make this right…
To my surprise the dealer stepped up and not only stayed in communication but also was diligent in finding a suitable 2018 HC WB Challenger as it’s replacement.. Similar miles, clean carfax, completely stock, mechanically sound and no damage (minus a couple very small paint chips (as to be expected on a used vehicle) the only downside was the auto trans which I wasn’t thrilled about however after driving this car for the past week I’m now not as upset about the auto… I actually enjoy it very much! The dealer gave me 5k over what I payed initially, waived any delivery charges, and sold me the car for what they paid (purchase papers in glove)
So far I’ve had the windows tinted and deleted the mid mufflers. I can also add as a thought I’ve recently had… no matter what you read or see on you tube with these vehicles you cannot prepare for the power until you put your foot in it and see what it’s about!!
I’m extremely lucky as I know this could have turned out very bad and I am quite positive I’ll never buy a vehicle again sight unseen even though in the end things turned out quite ok! I have a 4 year 48k bumper to bumper on a beautiful Torred widebody that runs and drives as good as my wife’s 2020 SRT Durango we purchased new in 2020!
