Reminds me of many years ago. I bought a new Camaro and treated it like it was made of glass lol. Never allowed food, drink, cigarettes, pets, - nothing in it. Transmission went out under warranty and so I left it with the dealer. A week goes by and I see my car at a red light with the service guy eating McDonald's in it. Was furious. AND when I finally got the car back it had a dented quarter. Didn't see it until I got home so of course it was on me. Effn dealers.

Yep if I get a factory recall service I'm staying with it and I will say I better not see it leaving the lot (y)

My info from various dealers is techs are not allowed to "push" the car. If you bring a car in with an issue that appears at some hyper-legal speed or if it appears if the car is being driven in such as way to violate any traffic laws the tech can possibly try to identify a problem and correct it but he can't take the car out and drive it a hyper-legal speeds or hot rod it.

Dealership employees have told me a ticket is big trouble in that it can mean the employee can't drive any cars on behalf of the dealer. I know in one case a new shuttle driver hire rolled a shuttle vehicle about a block from the dealership. Was told he walked from the accident site to the dealership to report the accident and was fired on the spot.

As I have I think mentioned here I had my 2006 mistreated not once but at least twice at two different Chevy/GM dealers.

Long story short I traded in the car for a new Porsche Cayman S. While I need a car I do not need one that the dealer techs feel they can abuse/misuse/drive in an unlawful and unsafe manner whenever I bring the car in for service or any reason.

If my Challenger ever gets mistreated at the dealership I'll dump the car in a heartbeat and buy another brand of car.

BTW, as I mentioned above I got rid of the GTO. This was back in 2009.

But before I got rid of it because the car was pretty nice I was considering adding a new Corvette to my garage. But after the way my GTO was treated no way I'd risk having a new Corvette. Instead I bought a new 2008 Cayman S. Then I bought a Porsche Turbo. A new Dodge Challenger Scat Pack. A new MINI JCW. A new Dodge Hellcat. A new M-B van. And just last November a new Scat Pack.

Note not one dime was spent on any Chevy/GM product or service. That stupid tech at that stupid Chevy/GM dealer cost Chevy/GM some lost car sales and other money I would have spent on having the vehicles serviced/repaired at a Chevy dealer.

I’ve said before that it’s a sad state of affairs when dodge makes the baddest american muscle cars on the planet, but hire 20 year old jiffy lube guys to service the best $90,000. car that they make!
On my 2020 redeye that I traded in, it smelled strong of anti freeze after ever ride, all the time. Never dripped or had a visible leak, just burned it off as it leaked. It was so bad, that when I took it in to be checked, the service tech, two guys that were there with him, a salesman, and someone else ALL stated man you definitely have a leak! It was undeniably a powerful smell of anti freeze. Everywhere I went someone anywhere near the car said “man you’re leaking anti freeze.” It was scary and embarrassing. So...they had me leave it with them. They called me about 4 hours later and said “ we pressure tested it, and had two different techs drive it. We can’t find a leak or smell anti freeze!” But...”we want you to leave it overnight so our service manager can drive it tomorrow to double check.” I said no thanks and went and picked up my car. And I’ve stated before, that another dealer where I bought the car, didn’t even believe me that it had an oil cooler to drain. They also didn’t reinstall the belly pan cover correctly, leaving out 2 of the four bolts entirely. It was dragging the ground. And they put so much oil in it that it was two inches over the full mark on the dipstick! You cannot get an honest or qualified dodge service tech anywhere it seems. My worse nightmare is having a major warranty situation required because of engine failure, etc. The only complaint I have with Dodge/FCA.

To be fair, outside of the likes of BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche, this is a standard state of affairs. If you really want to see shitshow, take a GT500 or Z06 to a Ford/Chevy dealership.

The worst thing I've had happen to my car at my local dealership was when I dropped it off for an oil change. I went next door to grab lunch while they worked on the car. When I came back an hour later, a salesman was "demoing" my car in the service drive to a young couple and let them sit in it, push the buttons and what-not.

"Oh I'm sorry sir, I thought this one was one of ours!"

Sure...

My starter suffered infant mortality. I put the car in valet mode and reset the performance history. When I got it back it was out of valet mode, I can understand that, having to disconnect the battery to change the starter. The performance history showed a max speed of 82mph and max g of .67 which was the limit of the AS tires at that temp (i.e. burnout).

I avoid having anyone work on my car if it is at all possible. When I had the 305's mounted I brought in the tires and wheels, then brought them home to put on the car.
