I know this has been discussed and I’ve seen some folks go back and forth. Anyway, I just bought a drag pack setup from my buddy who was going to build a drag hellcat but changed his direction. It is Racestar 18” skinnies with radial mickeys and 17” Racestar with 28x11.50x17 et street r bias ply. At this point, the tires are still new and if I want to sell and get normal radials, it would be ideal to do it now. I test fit the wheels and tires, but that’s it. I plan to race the car in a couple weeks and am deciding if I want to run these.

Overall, I know that radials would trap better and these could break parts easier and would likely work better on an unprepped surface.

I guess I am just back and forth with the info I’ve read and unsure if I should carry on with these. As a note, my car is stock power, stock driveshaft with diff brace. My car is a daily driver and I go to the track a few times a year for some fun.

What’s your thoughts?

I believe I’ve read here that bias plys are better for M6’s as they soften the hit.

The bias tires are easier on the drive line, The sidewalls are lighter so they wad up more as they grip the track which will affect your 60ft,

Be aware a bias tire can get UnStAbLe with lower air pressure and cooler weather. A radial is much more stable.

On these heavy a$$ Hellcat's I would start with 22psi and go easy till you get used to how the car handles,

I ran a pair of rather worn ET bias tires on my stick shift Mustang, They did hook for me doing a 5k+ clutch dumps.

I have a set of 17" Hoosier slicks and tried them on an 1/8th mile with my stock power Hellcat, at 22psi they ran the same times as my M&H DR's but man it was like steering a boat on the Hoosier..

You can see how I had to chase it a bit on the launch and the rear was moving around going down the track.

Thanks for the feedback! I ran 18 psi on my radials, so I am glad you mentioned starting with 22 psi. I have heard it can sway pretty bad, which is what I was worried about. Hopefully I can try it out in the next few weeks and see how it goes.
