Ok, so I just read a post about balance beads but there wasn't any follow-up. I have a 17" setup with M/T ET Street R tires that are spinning on my Racestar wheels. Can anyone confirm that this can be my solution to balanced race tires?

After a couple of passes, I will have some pretty bad vibration at the top end. And I drive my car to & from the track so that makes my highway driving very unpleasant.

It would be awesome if this would work versus removing my tires and trying to scuff up the bead area to help with the tires staying in place.

Thank you for any advice,
Dean

Balancing beads only replace weights. Will do nothing for rim spin in the tire. You can try the drag glue stuff or move up to beadlocks.

I assumed it wasn't going to be a solution for me. Thank you for the replies.

I run 6 oz in my 29.5X10.5 Hoosier Drag Brag Radials drive 80 miles round trip to the track weekly and have zero vibrations, smooth as glass on the hwy and track. Another Hellcat guy here uses 4 oz. in his 315/50/17 ET Street R's and has zero vibrations as well and he drives 90 miles round trip to the track. We run pretty much every weekend, I have JMS wheels and he has Forgestar DB5's. Both of our tires move on the rim, mine more than his, probably because the DBR's are a lighter carcass than the ET Street R's.

For the rear tires they work. Never tried them for the front skinnies, just weights for those.

I run 4oz I think in my race stars with 3054517. I have taken off the coating where the tire seats and have them mounted dry.
They usually don't move much after the initial slipping of a couple inches.
Next time I will have the rim balanced by itself and use beads again. Just for my ocd.

Your post in another thread is why I started this one to find out if they work for drag racing setups.

Thank you moparjim. I read one of your older posts where you said you removed the smooth finish on the bead seat area and it stopped the tire slipping. I plan on doing the same thing.

I have to go over one again. The tire shop cleaned one of the rims and I guess it is smoother because it now moves a little.
Still not bad as it moved about 2.5" all last season. The beads keep me from frequently visiting the tire shop.
