I was wondering if anybody knows if there is a plug and play TCM available along the lines of the Diablosport Suspension controller available for the A8 Red-eye transmission?

If not what's all involved in getting the tranny tuned and does it throw a code/void the warranty?

The reason I ask is my 60ft times have improved a lot and my cars is now shifting just before the trap, where as it used to shift just after, I'm sure it's costing me at least a tenth if not two.

I was getting mid to low 1.5s and now I'm averaging low 1.4s My times are still consistent 10.3s but my trap speed has dropped a little.

I'm thinking with a +.1 to +.15 gain in the 60ft I should be running low 10.2 to high 10.1s

The car is shifting around 6200 and I think if I could bump it to 6400ish that would push me just pass the traps.

I run in D with trans in track, 3.09s, 305/45/17 tires.

Thanks

Not aware of any plug and play tuned TCM module. Only custom tuning.

Even if you could get a TCM, what you want to do would not work. You would need to tune the PCM to raise the fuel cutoff and possibly have to add fueling. Without raising the fuel cutoff the car would fall on its face as you would be trying to shift past the cutoff.

Hmm just seems like it's shifting a little early was hoping there was a way to raise the shift points.

I suppose I could go to an 18" tire.

A 315 ? 17 would do it. But you will have clearance issues on the inside.
Not everyone is comfortable with a big hammer on their expensive car.

Yes would rub for sure as the 305s are a hair away now, not pounding out the inner fender well.

We can do just custom TCM tuning without unlocking and touching the PCM but we cannot raise the shift points much without raising the engine rev limiters in the PCM.
I was just about to call you guys was waiting for you to get back from lunch 😁

So your saying there's no loss in et shifting before the traps and crossing at 5400 vs shifting after the traps and crossing traps at 6200/full power?

So where has the extra tenth to tenth and a half that I picked up on my 60ft times gone?

You are not comparing apples to apples. You somehow think if you can avoid one shift at the end of the track you are going to pick up a lot. Read the article.

Also with nothing else changed if you pick up .15 in the 60 foot, Yes your ET will improve by that much, provided there is similar acceleration the rest of the pass.

We are just going by what you are saying, but you have not posted time slips? Why did you pick up .15 in your 60 foot? Etc.......

Try sticking the car in manual when you hit 5th gear and then run it to redline and it likely will cross the finish line before it noses over. I doubt you will see any change in your time slip, beyone the normal variation.

Was thinking this as well, maybe from 4th on.

I read something about with the car in drive (not manual) hit the downshift paddle and then run as usual, they said car will shift automatically at max rpm.

Not sure about this though will have to test it out, but if true that may solve my early shift issue.

I know that when the car is in Manual mode, in track setting at least, it will Not shift and just bounce off the rev limiter (forgot a few times to put it back in drive after burnout, lol)

I have tuned my transmission and raised my shift points. You have to raise certain limiters in the PCM for it to play nice. Easily done with HP Tuners. With a 2.62 and a 305 I was still in fifth gear right at the traps. With a 3.09 and a 305 I was shifting right before the traps into sixth. Keep in mind sixth gear is the 1:1 ratio, should be where we make most power 🤷‍♂️. With my 29.5" tire and a 3.09 I'm still in fifth right at the traps. In regards to time lost you are not losing anything, IMO. If you want your biggest bang for your buck with tuning, a TCM tune with raised shift points and firmness is the wya to go. However you will need to change the PCM fields as well and that will tip off to the WiTech scanner that it's been tampered with.

I focused on the shift point at the traps in my first set of runs yesterday.

The first slip was shifting into manual in 5th and riding through the traps, 2+3 we're leaving it in auto the whole way, and 4th was back in manual 5th through traps.

There seemed to be a very slight improvement in both ET and MPH powering through traps in 5th vs auto shifting to 6th just before but not as much as I thought there would be. The next time out I'll try shifting into manual for 4th and 5th to see if there's a larger gain.

FYI I never bounced off the rev limiter in either manual 5th pass was close though, was at 6200rpm at the line.
