Just that bracket that holds the switch. It's coated steel. My guess is moisture gets built up in that area and there is ZERO airflow to dry it out sufficiently and over time it rusts. I'd bet that a lot of them are like that and you wouldn't know unless you removed the assembly.

How old is your car? That should be covered under corrosion warranty.

5 years old. I'm gonna say that because it's not the body that it's not covered.
