After I bought my 2015 last year, one of the first things I installed was this screen protector from Amazon. This was before I was aware of delamination issues with the factory touch screen and I can't even say with certainty that the screen protector will prevent delamination, but for less than $13 it's not a bad gamble. There is no loss in tactile response, and at the very least the screen protector prevents scratches that appear over time on the factory screen.

It won’t help. The problem is the cabin heat melting the glue behind the screen. If you want to help prevent the issue, look into window films for your windshield, to try and reduce cabin temps.

Well, mine just started doing this last week. It started small (at the top middle around where the time shows) but it's looking a bit worse each day. Although my Uconnect has been doing random lockups and resets for the past year or so. Also, I think the delamination started after my car started getting warmer because my thermostat failed. I got that issue straightened out but a week later and the delamination started...

Yours looks about 50% worse than mine. Good luck on getting any help. I assume I’m paying about $1300 total with parts and labor when all is said and done. But it’s not like I have too many options since I plan on keeping this car.

Just had mine starting to separate at the top on my 2018 Ram . It's growing fast. I ordered the LG replacement monitor from oem gps navigation ($400) and a local radio shop fella is going to swap them out for me. The Dealership wanted $1200 for refurbished head unit plus $170 labor.

My 2017 Uconnect just started delaminating last month and it’s delaminating fast. It started as pin size and now probably the size of a thumb in thickness and length. However, the functionality has not changed yet…mostly across the top of the screen. I’m out of the warranty period, but I’ll call Dodge and go from there.
Did you have any luck? I’m in the same situation right now

Called Dodge Customer Care and they noted the delamination, but said they would not replace the unit. I then called the Uconnect customer number, but Stellantis customer care answered the call. The agent was great and stated the issue is quite common. He noted the account and stated the claim would be forwarded to the powers that be. This was about a month ago and there has been no additional communication. The Stellantis agent did say to keep any receipts if I decide to repair the unit, since he believed a recall is coming...we'll see.

My unit still works, but looks horrible. As soon as the unit fails to respond, then I'll move ahead with replacing the unit myself...and keep my receipt and old unit for a possible future reimbursement.

I took it to the dealership on the 3rd, and ended up having to pay $915 to get a new head unit on order...
That's a fair price. Mine was $950 but they only charged me for the 1 hour of labor instead of the book labor of 2 hours. They have done hundreds of these at the dealership I visited and said they were certain there would be no recall. If you can get by with the actual labor time as the charge you will be getting a good deal. If you snap a trim piece clip doing something yourself it will cost you a fortune to replace it. Have a buddy that runs an upholstery and trim shop. Large sign when you walk in that says they are not responsible for any plastic trim piece breakage if the car is older than five years. Only makes sense. The dealer is taking this on since it's a "Dodge" problem to start with.

Are you guys with the screen issues parked outside in the sun a lot? Does this happen to garage kept cars?

Wondering if it's a heat issue.
Some say it is. My 2017 Scat was purchased used with 3K miles back in 2018 or early 19. It has super dark tint, is always garaged, and has a custom fitted sun visor for any time spent outside longer than twenty minutes. The design of the unit is defective and the number that have been replaced has got to be staggering. At the dealership that corrected mine they have trained one person to do the swap. They mentioned doing hundreds and that was exactly one year ago. They may be over a 1000 at this point - the customer will never find that number. I did know the manufacturer of the defective units but I have forgotten. Seems like Panasonic or Motorola but I could be wrong. Very strange to me that Stellantis would not force the supplier to make good on the part.

we had a heat wave for a few weeks this summer in New England and I thought it cracked my screen. but now I realize it's probably delaminating.
I'll make an appointment at the Stealer and probably ask them to do that key FOB security thing also.
I have like 8K miles on my 2018 Demon.
Thanks guy

Called my dealer-my email with pictures were just sitting unanswered for 1 month- only to discover that the Service Rep (or whatever) was just sitting on them.
I thought at least she would send them to the Parts Mgr, as discussed, to determine if the screen is available and when to install under my warranty.

Turns out that I have to come in so a tech can grab numbers from my unit to send to Stellantis. Ok. Needless to say, I'm not pleased with the snarky delivery of the info from Miss S. Not once was me being there in person to facilitate the repair discussed on the phone or otherwise.
Anyway, typical I guess...

As a side note, Parts Mgr says that Stellantis is trying to squirm out of covering these repairs as they are determining that many people are causing damage to the screen from too much hand sanitizer lol!
Yes, "due to Covid..." excuses. It's not over.
Anyway, mine IS covered as evidenced by the pics sent.
Whew.

My Hellcat sits in a garage for 5 months of the year (winter weather) and only comes out for drives on nice days during the rest of the year. 90% of its' life is in the garage.
Heat plays a part in this delaminating issue for sure, but it's not the only factor I think.
Crappy glue etc probably the main culprit.
