Came from a '16 hellcat challenger w/ harmon kardon system and it sounded awesome. The dual factory subs and well balanced speaker system was the highlight of the non-horsepower related things from that car.

Now that car is sold and im in a '21 redeye charger with the latest Harmon Kardon group and it sounds completely different. For 1 I am shocked that the charger HK doesnt come with factory subs.l while the challenger does. Also, this new system just doesnt seem to sound as easily balanced as the old one.

I really liked having those subs below the trunk flooring, has anyone find an option like the challengers have to go un the same place without going with a fully custom box?

First off....there IS a subwoofer (just one). It's in the rear deck/parcel shelf

Second....if you wanted, the Challenger HK subwoofer box can fit in the Charger's spare tire well. How you would integrate that into the HK system I don't know, but it can fit/work (I added the Challenger HK sub box with an aftermarket amp to my Alpine system before).

Third....the HK system is pretty damn good in the Charger. If you had or heard the "base" Alpine system, you'd see it's totally worth it for the sound upgrade.
Probably not worth the $2k they charge for it, but it's sounds waaaay better than the base Alpine

I have a ‘15 hellcat challenger with the HK and a ‘21 ram rebel with the 19 speaker HK system. The challenger sounds exceptionally better than the Rebel. Full well rounded lows with no rattle and fairly crisp highs. The Rebels lows sound flat and flabby and even then I have 2-3 rattles from the back somewhere. Total disappointment. I’m sure it shares a similar system to your Redeye.

Ummm, no....the HK system in your TRUCK does not, and will not, sound like the HK system in the Charger.....two totally different setups

That's why i did the hk upgrade on my redeye because i heard the alpine is full rubbish. I was just expecting it to sound at least equally as good as a system from 5 years ago.

I didn't know there was actually a sub in the car. The way it sounds, with the bass way up, like all the speakers are carrying the low end load instead of primarily a subwoofer. So that just attests to my feeling that its poorly balanced, possibly at the amplifier. Ill have to see if there is crossover frequency adjustment on the amp maybe, if i can find it lol.

The audio sounds good'ish, but for a $2k upgrade should sound significantly better. But that's just my opinion on the matter, and I'm glad im not alone. I'll have to look into maybe getting that challenger factory sub gousing and tying it in. Wouldnt be difficult if i can find the amp. Thanks for the info

Good luck with it. I’m sure most people would say they just lower their windows and hear the whine and exhaust instead of the radio but I like it all
Thanks, yeah im the same way, i love music as much as my engine symphony. Haha. Maybe I'm still stuck in the nostalgia of my last hellcat and i just have to get used to the new setup!

The HK system sucks. Such as waste of 2K, I could have used that and got an aftermarket system with a real sub for half the price and sounded 10 times better. My wife has a 19 Durango R/T and her non upgraded system blows mine away. The dealership has already replaced all the back speakers and sub because they were rattling so much.

The HK system in my 21 Durango doesn't blow my skirt up either. I understand that the source can make a noticeable difference and that SiriusXM and some/most streaming services compress their content to the point of noticeable degradation. Any thoughts on the way to get the best source to the unit?

All you have to do is put an amp on the HK system and if reaaaally wakes it up. I use a JL audio amp. A 6 ch one. If you need more info PM me I’ll take pics of the amp and pieces you need. I wasn’t happy with it either.

Would you mind posting it here? I'm sure I'm not the only one interested.
