Unsure if my 2015 Hellcat has a existing unlocked PCM. The previous owner had passed away and the seller was not sure. I did the whole PCM swap / diablosport tuner on my 2015 R/T and still have the handheld tuner.

My question is...is there anyway to tell by connecting my diablosport tuner to tell if the PCM is unlocked? More importantly if I do connect the tuner will I possibly damage or brick the car?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Thank you for the reply I appreciate it. I looked at the current PCM in my Hellcat and there were no distinguishing markers on it. When I did the PCM swap on my other Challenger there was nothing of note to distinguish the unlocked / new PCM I received from the locked PCM that I removed.

Additionally, does anyone know if I can pull live data from a locked PCM and analyze it on my PC?

Yes you can data log a locked PCM.

Forgive the stupid question but how-do-you-do that?
You have to buy a Tool from Diablosport or HPTuners and learn how to use it. It takes a comittment though. I very much prefer HPTuners and I have used both. HPTuners you need a Laptop but just about any one will do nowadays..........

The easiest way is to see if the car throws a P1400 code. If so, then the car has a modified PCM.
No necessarily true. But it is likely to have an unlocked PCM if that code is set. But you need a good reader to see it. It won't come up on the DIC diagnostic, I think. It is likely a hidden permanent code.
