So I've got the itch for a "project" car, and I always wanted a Neon SRT-4.
I had a base Neon when I was younger & came soooo close to buying a new '05 silver one back in the day & I've regretted it ever since.

Anyways....so I've checked eBay, Autotrader, Cargurus, & Facebook Marketplace.
Ebay & Autotrader seem to have run their course and aren't offering much (outdated now?).
FB has the most on there but 98% of them are overpriced turds that are beat up with a ton of miles.

I would like a lower mile/clean one, but can't afford to throw a ton of money at it.
I understand it's probably not a good time to buy, but I'm still just gonna look at least & see if a nice one comes up.

Where else should I be looking/searching though?

www.srtforums.com/forum.php If you want to find one in good condition with low miles, you're most likely going to pay for it. I know it's a Neon, but their values have went up in recent years. I bought a 2004 new, and still have it. I'll never sell it unless it comes down to feeding my family. Everyone I know has regretted selling theirs.

I had a 2004 SRT4 I bought brand new drove it for over 10 years and sold it I regretted it ever since. Had mopar stage 3 kit and was a blast. I have had a hellcat, a Redeye, a viper and a 1,000hp mustang and still the srt4 was the most fun out of them all it was like a go kart. I know everyone it’s just a neon I get it but I was fun as hell. There’s a mint 2005 commerative edition for sale in Wisconsin I think but your going to pay they are asking what I paid for mine brand new back in 04

They are out there but incredibly hard to find in good condition. Found one in FL some years back with 10k miles and it was a steal of a price before covid hit, I should have went for it but I didn't. I'm sure that same car would be double in price today. Good luck either way! I've had 3 of them and they were all a blast

You may want to check Craigslist and SRT-4 forums like these: For Sale - Vehicles or Swapmeet

I wasn't sure anyone even really used craigslist anymore, lol

Checked those sites out already....nothing there (or recent anyways)
But thanks though

Can you PM me a link for the '05 one?

BTW I was expecting I'd need a flame suit for posting about a Neon SRT-4 on here, but it sounds like it really was a sweet little car for what it was in it's day.
So thanks for the help/feedback/support (y)

Any other (secret?) sites I should be checking/looking at though?

Is there an achilles heel on those cars though?
i.e. common issues?

I see rear quarter rust, on rough ones, for example.

Once you start building power, cams turbo forged internals you will be building the transmission. I had an 05 I bought new and kept throwing money in it when I went big turbo. Parts are hard to find and DCR transmission parts are expensive. Stay away from Gator axles and use the stock ones. I broke a gator axle first day I put in in and then put my 175000 mile stocks back in. It was my first new car and it was nice. The dash also cracks on them along with the leather seats.

Autotrader is still a great place for I’d say new or at least 2010+ cars. They’re not good for trying to find unicorns though, which is what you’re looking for lol. Good luck! I think the Neon SRT is a cool little car. I never owned one but I did own a Crossfire SRT6, different I know, but another kinda off-beat SRT offering before they settled on going the 392 / Hellcat way.

If your looking for that type of driving experience and get sick of looking for a clean used one, check out the new Elantra N. Before you slam me, take a look. Basically the SRT4 reincarnation with modern stuff. I have been loving mine every minute. Trackhawk has been doing a lot of sitting

It's a Neon...so thats about the only flaming to be had :D

Still, it was the Hellcat of its day...taking on Vettes and Fbodies..... and winning too...

I still wish they had it RWD that car....would have been a BEAST

No idea on the best place to buy one. Had mine for 12 years though, and while people might talk sh**, it was one of my favorite cars I've ever owned. Car is no frills, no extras, just so much raw fun. The engine could also take a beating like nothing I've ever seen either.

The trick is finding one that hasn't been completely beat to shit. That's the real search.

Good luck

I thought those were kinda cool when they were introduced and with a manual trans to boot. And the article that @Unavowed linked confirms, it's no joke.
BUT....I'm sure they're hard to find and not discounted (or cheap)
