My Dad served aboard the USS Antietam from 1944 to 1946. Today I found a photo of Hellcats on the deck of the Antietam.

My Dad was a good guy, and I sure miss him. He’s been gone since 2009. He would love riding in this Hellcat I bought, and I can hear his laugh that would surely happen when I goosed it. When I first got the car, I was out driving it and turned on a road to his house, thinking, oh man I need to go show this to him! But then I remembered, I couldn’t. Funny how that type of thing still happens sometimes, even after 14 years. I had a good Dad.

My grandfather and your dad probably had a lot in common. He never flew a Hellcat but a ton of other planes and even some of the first jets. It's why I named my car Corky as that was his call sign and it reminds me of him every time I drive it. I'm sure people get confused when they see Corky in B5 blue where the Dodge letters used to be in the rear.

I'll share something that may have meaning to you too. It's a song my grandfather cherished that he hung on his wall. On of the few things I got to keep after his passing.

Cheers to two great heros in this world!

Lots of us did, and we are fortunate. What we learned from them helped to put us where we are today. Great pic and story btw. Thanks.

This is great. I always wonder how many (or few) know the history behind this car's name. Thankfully Dodge decided to actually name the car Hellcat in the end. It was meant to be. How could they not.
Such a bad ass plane and bad ass men who fought with it. Our country owes them a debt. How many today remember that...

Can't forget Eagle and Apache also internal names for the 5.7 and 6.4.
