Last month I took delivery of my new Redeye and I had this Viper alarm system installed: Viper 5706V LCD 2-Way Security + Remote Start System. Today I discovered that my car comes with the "Deluxe Vehicle Security System" and "Sentry Key Immobilizer." Here is an excerpt from the owner's manual:

"The Deluxe Vehicle Security system monitors the doors, hood latch, and trunk for unauthorized entry and the ignition switch for unauthorized operation. The system also includes a dual function intrusion sensor and vehicle tilt sensor. The intrusion sensor monitors the vehicle interior for motion. The vehicle tilt sensor monitors the vehicle for any tilting actions (tow away, tire removal, ferry transport, etc.)."

"The Sentry Key Immobilizer system prevents unauthorized vehicle operation by disabling the engine. The system does not need to be armed or activated. Operation is automatic, regardless of whether the vehicle is locked or unlocked.

The system uses a key fob, keyless push button ignition and a Radio Frequency (RF) receiver to prevent unauthorized vehicle operation. Therefore, only key fobs that are programmed to the vehicle can be used to start and operate the vehicle. The system cannot reprogram a key fob obtained from another vehicle.

The Sentry Key Immobilizer system is not compatible with some aftermarket Remote Start systems. Use of these systems may result in vehicle starting problems and loss of security protection."

So basically, both alarm systems have mostly the same features. My Viper alarm doesn't have the proximity sensor, but it can be added though. The Viper GPS tracking has a backup battery. Not sure if Dodge added a backup battery for the Uconnect GPS tracking system. I got the Viper alarm because I read so many posts about how terrible the factory alarm system is. Looks like Dodge really improved the security posture for '21 and '22 models.

The Viper alarm subscription is cheaper than SiriusXM Guardian, but it seems pointless to have two nearly identical alarm systems installed. I wonder if it will cause any issues. Seems like I should have just gone with the Viper GPS tracking instead of the security and remote start package.

I am in the same boat as you, but am about to add a Viper alarm to our just purchased Wrangler 392, which they already tried to steal 3 times from our home's driveway at night in the last 2 months. What stopped them was Ring Motion detectors, which wakes me. I had to run down, which scared them away. Unfortunately, there will be times the car must be street parked in the winter at night where I will lose the Ring's ability to wake me up. I added at night a wheel boot at the back wheel to prevent towing forward. During the day I only use the steering wheel lock instead. (see pics)

From what I understand with the Viper system you can add a perimeter sensor and have it alert you just like my Ring system does when in my driveway. I have not gotten a solid answer on this yet. I don't think the factory alarm can do that. (if it can hopefully someone here lets me know). I plan to install the Viper system for that feature alone.

Would suggest returning the Viper...

Get a kill swtich bro. Alarms are just noise makers. When was the last time u looked at a car when the alarm was going off? They go off like chirping birds...... No one gives a shit or notices! They just make the theif work faster smh. I try to encourage everyone I know with a Hellcat to watch this video and do the same.......

I would also highly encourage u to get a GPS tracker. U own a $100k car spening $12 a month to ensure u can get ur car back in a few hours after being stolen is priceless!

And remember with a GPS tracking device u can locate ur own car without getting the Police involved! Cause once u report it stolen its a stolen recovery when they locate it which they probably wont cause it will be chopped up in a few days and the parted out but if they do u now own a stolen recovered Hellcat and no one wants to buy that if u ever decide to sell! It KILLS the value!

Before I bought my Redeye I was looking at one in Texas. I did a carfax and it was a stolen recovery. I had ZERO interest in buying that car then cause there are plenty of others that arent recovered stolen.

The GPS unit can be installed by anyone. Its just a positive/negative attachment off ur battery. U can hide it so no one will notice its there. I have all kinds of wires coming off my battery for stereo equipment.

I dont care what Dodge has done to help prevent car thefts u still have professional car theives that will defeat ANYTHING they come out with. That is 100% fact! Everything is done thru the air so once the professional car theives come up with a way to hack into it they will. Its a billion dollar business stealing cars trust me they will find a way. But not with a kill switch......

What did you do? I’m in the same situation.

I have a 22’ w/ new security features, currently have an IGLA installed but I want something that sends a push notification if my alarm is tripped and GPS.
