So I've been thinking....

WB seems to be the understood acronym for Wide Body. However, the body of the car isn't any wider than a Narrow Body car (And yes, it seems like NB is used for Narrow Body). The "Wide" Body has the same body but with large fender flares added which I personally don't think look good.

So why isn't it called a Fender Flare Body or FF Body? Wouldn't that be the more accurate description?

Wide body is Stellantis' marketing term. It won't be replaced. Too much already invested.

To me, fender flares sound like aftermarket add-ons. Maybe that's the Stellantis reasoning as well.

I posted this just to have some fun with it. Although it doesn't change the fact that the body isn't any wider, lol.

I agree that Dodge marketing didn't want to make their "Wide Body" sound cheap by calling it a fender flare package.

It's attached to the body. Doesnt matter if it's bolted, welded, glued, velcro'd, bubble gum. Makes the body 3.5 inches wider. I get the point though.

It would have been more cost for Dodge to engineer & build but it would have been great if the Demon and Super Stock had a narrowed rear end to fit the bigger tires under the car. The front could have been the standard 20x9.5 wheels for a staggered setup from the factory. Of course the cost of the car would be much much higher if they did all of that for a very low production vehicle.

But it IS wider. I think 3.5 inches or so with the flares.

I was going to get a WB but thought it would be too wide for my garage. After searching, I found out they are indeed the same width from the edge of the mirrors. But I'm still trying to decide if I should get the WB or the shaker or 1320 trim. I like the look of the WB, but since it will be a daily driver, I'm thinking it would be more trouble than its worth for such things as trying to squeeze through tight drive thru's and automated car washes and such. So I guess its between a loaded shaker with brass monkey wheels and caramel seats or a 1320 nicely equipped. I'm about to order one in Sinamon stick, but have to pick one trim. I know easier said than done though. I like the look of the shaker better, but the 1320 is a better bang-for-the-buck, rarer and would be cheaper to start with at least as I'm sure I would end up buying multiple sets of wheels and tires (one for daily, one for winter and one for the track). I'm about to start a new job with a decent sign on bonus each month for a year so that shouldn't be a problem though.

And it's not the narrow body, it's the standard body. "Wide body" implies that it's wider than the standard body. Now, if they come out with a model that's narrower than standard then that's the narrow body.
Someone close this thread. The truth has been spoken and there's nothing else to be said.

To summarize: We currently have SB and WB Challengers. We're pending the creation of the NB Challenger. And lastly, I'm an idiot for coming up with FF Challenger.

The End. o_O

Drive throughs etc. won't be an issue lol - only thing I would say you'd maybe need to consider in terms of wear and tear difference if you're daily driving is the flares themselves - you would be wise to have them PPF'd at the very least, and definitely use rock/mud guards.

The 2k investment in full front end + rear flare PPF was worth it to me
