Threads like these are so over done. All. It鈥檚 real simple. Be it FCA, Ford, GM or anyone else- these companies have ferocious expenses. Those expenses need to be fed with revenue.
Humans don鈥檛 move anywhere near that fast and if you think in 24 months they鈥檙e ready to trash the combustion engine you simple know nothing about economics.
Gas autos and muscle cars aren鈥檛 going anywhere in the near to fore. Notice how they keep coming out with 鈥渄emon like鈥 versions??? Because they need to keep selling cars!!
I mean the zo6 hasn鈥檛 even hit the street yet. You think these people but billions into R&D for 1-2 model years.
Jesus cmon.
Although not the same Nissan is about to unveil and release the 400z with manual option and electronic rev match.
Yup it鈥檚 all going away in 1-2 years for electric.
Good lord.

your statements are very logical, the problem is that the people in charge have no logic and create crises out of nowhere, like the current gas supply and price situation. Look how many things were thought unimaginable just a couple of years ago and now are happening before our eyes. At this stage and pace, lots of things can happen in another 2 years.

Not going to happen anytime soon. Politics dictates it has to reset. Sleepy jokes and commie Harris will not be reelected and the pendulum will once again swing the other way. Vicious cycle.

You need to ask yourself , why did all the combustion engine plants NOT GET CHIPS, while electric cars had plenty and sales went up too !! Socialism SUCKS !!
Actually that is pure capitalism. There are probably higher margins with mark-ups, subsidies, rebates, and credits on EVs. Not to mention the other industries benefiting from their roll out. It was likely more profitable to place the semiconductors into non-ICE platforms.

Socialism is everyone walking because of a redistribution of wealth causing everyone (outside of the elite) to experience suffrage equally. Cars are a luxury.

Watch what you say about "Sleepy jokes" (I think you meant Joe) and "commie Harris". All of my grandparents voted for them. Which, is kinda strange as that is something that they would have never have done if they were still alive.

Not to mention "every foundry and its dog" was going hog WILD making crypto-mining chips for the last year or so. Gamers could not get a decent video card for less then triple MSRP.

Well folks I'm the weird one out here with an old(?) 2012 Tesla Model S P85 parked right next to my 2018 Dodge/SRT Challenger Hellcat Widebody.

They are both a blast! But they are totally different from each other too.

The Tesla is the one with more US content...by a LOT. Still, the Hellcat screams 'merica a lot more loudly. Go figure.

I'm old enough to remember (barely) when leaded gas was getting switched for unleaded...and some of these comments sound like echos from back then.

Technology changes and moves on, but there will still be a place for the legends of yesterday. Glad to have my Hellcat for sure! But I'm also excited to see what's up around the bend.

Weep not for the past. Fear not for the future.

Many people (fewer trolling the Hellcat forums) are financing new cars for 7 yrs. The new electric technology will make huge advancements many times over before loan matures. These cars won鈥檛 have the resale values we are accustomed to seeing. Additionally lenders will be eating these car loans when manufacture warranty is up and owners are facing battery replacement that鈥檚 more than car value with 3 years left on the loan. I think perple with marginal credit ratings will walk away from the loans...let the bank eat it. This will only force the buyers to have more skin in the game (Always had to have a down payment in the old days) OR majority of the cars will be Econo sized death traps just to keep MSRP down and volumes up. There will always be high end luxury and performance cars but fewer than are being sold running gas.

I hate to see hasty mandates forcing technology shifts without a viable plan, infrastructure, raw materials and a way to pay for it without playing Robinhood. These plans discourage ownership as people lease cars, homes etc. we鈥檙e killing the American Dream by the day.

Getting parts won't be an issue for ICE cars in the future, I think Eidlebrock sells most of their parts for aftermarket use and gearheads will continue to buy and trade cars for the next couple of centuries. The funny thing is the crappy car aftermarket is starting to take off and people are selling 84' Accords and 74' Pintos for a premium. Imagine fixing up a Yugo (so it can do 100 miles before breaking down) and selling for $5K? Damn car cost $3K new. You can take almost any POS do some body work and sell for a profit atm.

Most everyone sounds like a gang of Luddites bemoaning the new horseless carriages, times change and technology does to, just the way. Doesn't mean they are going to come take our ICE cars away, we'll probably get some type of tax penalty or some crap for driving a gas powered vehicle. When they pass a federal mandate stating that all public passenger vehicles must be electric, that's when I'll join the rebellion; "Give me Combustion or give me Death"!

Insurance or lack of it or cost will kill fossil fuel vehicles. There鈥檚 legislation that鈥檚 working its way through right now that will hold owners/drivers and insurance companies that insure gas vehicles liable for climate change and the environmental damage done by your fossil fuel car. The people in charge now don鈥檛 have any intention of going anywhere. Forget about elections. It didn鈥檛 work last time and it鈥檚 not gonna work next time. The future is here.

There鈥檚 literally tens of millions of ic cars in the world. Just because they quit making them doesn鈥檛 mean all those other cars are going anywhere anytime soon. Gas will be around a long time. Besides, Porsche and the people involved in the zero emissions fuel will be testing next year. That鈥檚 going to be a really big deal once it gets going since it鈥檚 the best of both worlds.

Can you read? I said insurance and elections. noticed that you skipped right over that. Yes you are correct they will never take your gas car and they鈥檒l be plenty of gas to buy. Except you won鈥檛 be able to drive your gas car because you have no insurance so no registration. But yes, you will be able to get gas at $10 a gallon to fill your Porsche.

The great thing about putting your predictions and thoughts in writing is we can go back in a few years and see who was right and who was way off base. Just like we can go back now and look at the predictions before the last election. Surprise,Surprise The complete opposite is happening now.
Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

I can read fine. I think you鈥檙e over reacting. There鈥檚 no way they鈥檒l pass anything that drastic. I don鈥檛 do politics on forums, but things are going to change drastically next year at the mid terms. America runs on gas. Take that away and the country stops. No work, no trucking, no deliveries. Yeah, that鈥檚 not going to happen.
