My car arrived at the rail yard on Wednesday, April 15th, and was unloaded around 12:00 pm. I was fortunate enough to have it inspected in the staging area around 3:00 that afternoon. A little dusty, but otherwise in great shape. No damage whatsoever, body panels all lined up, yellow splitter covers in place just sitting there in the sun. Couldn't determine in there were any paint flaws because of the dust, but looked good nonetheless.

After hearing about the pristine nature of the car I fully assumed an early delivery to the dealership. You can imagine my surprise when a status update the next day revealed the following:

Fenkell - Splitter repair - . . .
Ummm, WHAT!????? The car was observed with absolutely zero damage. Seems like something fishy is happening.

So, have any of you been told exactly what damage was done to the car(s) so you could determine if it was enough of a concern to pass on taking the vehicle? I'm a little worried about the lack of visibility with all of this new car stuff.

You know way more about this car than any other car that gets shipped to dealers. I'm sure there is often damage that Fenkell (and other similar 3rd party inspection companies) find and fix all the time and the buyer is never the wiser. Ignorance is bliss

I bet the damage in underneath the splitter. Just be happy you're getting the car and it'll be in good condition. No conspiracy theory here.

Just glad the Fenkell inspection happened so quickly after unloading.

If it is splitter damage, that's totally different than some yahoo bouncing the rear off a cement block and tweaking the frame. What would be nice is some up front honesty.

You are correct, if I didn't have conflicting information, I would just wait, as most others have with the splitter repair, although, something like that could have easily waited for the dealer to address.

This whole scenario just "smells" funny.

Call Fenkell direct and they will give you an update. ph. 1-844-746-4336. Tell them your from the dealership and want to get an update and make sure they are going out to repair it. I was able to learn that mine was being held to clean up some "salt stains" from the Brampton. Took 3 days and my dealer couldnt tell me squat. I knew more from going through the back channels.

They probably replaced the splitter because it scraped, or it was such light scratching on the top they were able to use some scratch X. If anything it's most likely just damaged underneath.

Time will tell. I've sent a note off to the dealer to check for me. We'll see where this goes. I'm sure it's nothing, and potentially not even a splitter issue ;)

This whole scenario just "smells" really bad.
You can either cancel the deal and walk away right now if this is unacceptable, throw a tantrum that no one will really care about, or wait patiently and inspect your car carefully when it arrives and decide to sign on the dotted line or not. It seems like FCA is trying to get these cars to customers in the best condition possible, though. Sit back, take a deep breath, relax and enjoy a Blue or two. Your car will be there before you know it!

Several of us know the anxiety you are feeling, but it will be fine. Like GTS_2001 said above, take a deep breath. Try to relax. :) You will have the red key in hand soon!

April

PS- Did you notice that I threw the word "try" before relax? I know I was SO not relaxed the last week before Dante arrived! LOL! Marty said he wished he had offered me a few Fireball shots .. ya know, a lil medicine for the nerves!

That's what I need, a significant other to feed me shots. Maybe I'll get lucky on two fronts. LOL

Maybe! :D Careful how loud you say that. There's always someone who has a sister, friend, neighbor, etc. that they would like you to meet. Rarely does that ever go well!

I was told the same just last week, repairs finished. I called Fenkell and they said no damage. My dealer said to me, if it was under $500, it didn't have to be disclosed. i don't know if that's true, but I went over mine with a fine tooth comb. It's all emotion, and I feel for you. Just went through the same thing. Now, "The Madcat" sits here where I can stare at it in peace, and get some shop work done !!! It looks fast just sitting there. Don't give it up unless you really find something weird. My biggest complaint is the RH tail light is slightly lower then the trunk lights by about 4 mm. That will be adjusted by myself. As for the tricoat ivory, the paint is way better then my 2013 performance white. Has a little dirt in it, but no way near as much orange peel. The first time you turn the key, you'll just go WOW.
Have a beer, I did in the showroom's employee break room. It was a celebration!
........and I'm not commenting on significant other feeding shots other than,...., been there, done that, bought the tee shirt, chapter closed,... lol.
Ahh the good old days, shakes head with fond memories and exits the room, fade to black, go to commercial.

Yeah, no damage, just extra cleaning, so I've been told
