As I understand it, you just tell them you don't want it. The paper you signed to agree to the order is just that, an agreement that you want that particular build. There is nothing legally binding about the ordering process.

Not true, have to read whatever you have signed so far. If a deposit was given, whatever was signed will determine if the dealer can/will keep it.

It might be something as simple as you lose your deposit. Review your paperwork and talk with the dealer. Sometimes they will give you the deposit back even if they state it’s non-refundable.

High demand no supply...shouldn’t be a problem for them
True, or they can keep money and car....cuz free money. Let's see how commendable the dealer is.

I see Sales Code "4EA" -- Sold Vehicle. I'm no invoice sales code expert, but you might own the vehicle.

If you don't the build is not outrageous and given the current situation the dealer should have little difficultly in selling the vehicle.

But you'll have to talk to the dealer to find out what's what and the sooner the better.

Your only "out" without risking your deposit may be an unreasonable wait time.
Any excessive wait time has to be defined and agreed upon -- by both buyer and seller -- at the time the purchase order written up. Also, the dealer can't be held responsible if the car is late due to reasons beyond its control. If the dealer just drops the ball and fails to put in the order yeah, you can elect to back out.

But if the order goes in and the car is late because of -- for example from current events -- COVID factory shut down or lack of parts -- that is not the fault of the dealer.

If the car comes in not as ordered one can refuse the car. But if the order is wrong on the initial paperwork this must have been corrected before the car was started. If one special orders a car he must check and double check the order to make sure it is correct.

IOWs, if the car comes in wrong because the order was wrong and the "buyer" failed to notice this and get it corrected the car can't be refused for this reason.

But if ordered say Octane Red and the paperwork shows this and the car arrives in a different color one can refuse the car.

You don't own a vehicle until it's paid for and the money clears from the check you give them or the bank financing it pays the dealer the balance. That code simply tells Dodge to prioritize it accordingly because it is a customer factory order.

I actually think it may be harder to sell. It has nothing in it and the base houndstooth cloth seats. Took Koons a long time to sell those last year.

Agreed, that's a stripper base model.

Like I said was not sure just what the sold code meant.

I kind of for a moment thought the hounds tooth seats might be a buzz kill but some buyers look for a bare bones car because of the price and often searches for cars for sale lists cars with the lowest price first which means the hounds tooth cars get more eyeballs on them.

But it all comes down to the dealer what he will agree to regarding backing out of a "deal".

I ordered one from Koon’s then decided on a change. They reordered another for me at a slightly lower discount. Didn’t lose deposit. Craig is quality people. BTW they sold the first one in 3 days too.
