Fingers crossed for a awd Charger/Challenger Hellcat for 2023. I know its a stretch with the Hellcat platform ending in 23, however they'll definitely do something special for the last year. What do you think will change?
I seriously was wondering if this was the last year lolTheir announcement the Hellcat will end with the 2022 model year.![]()
This is my guess as well.Factory installed stage 3 kit option to >900hp to blow everyone else out of the water without needing more costly R&D. Cheapest quickest way to advertise a swan song monster hp number without spending much cash.
You can’t burn out but you can roast all 4 taking off.How do you do a burnout with AWD anyway? Isn't that the whole point of the car.
😂Clearly I think you need the Labatt's beer....🤣My guess is that Dodge drops the ball on the 2023 lineup. I think Stellantis is in such a penny-pinching mode with the mad dash to ending the V8s to avoid EPA fines that they're going to authorize nothing more than a sticker package akin to the 50th anniv. edition and Orange edition cars currently being made.
It would be nice if they would offer a rare send-off vehicle trim, but I kind of don't expect it. Mainly for two reasons. I covered the first reason above. Cost and expedited end to the line so they can begin the tooling upgrades for replacing the lineup. The second reason lies in semantics. Dodge doesn't want to "end" the muscle cars. They want to continually evolve them with the ultimate goal being an electrified version. Therefore, they aren't "killing" anything off, as they're just evolving them.
It's sort of like how at one time you had a '70 Mach 1 Mustang and a few years down the road, you had a '77 Mustang. Even though the two had NOTHING in common aside from the namesake, Ford never considered a final edition of the 71 or 72 Mustang as they gave up the ghost to the Mustang IIs. Note in the brochure for the 77 Mustang LE below how there is no mention whatsoever of the powertrain options. The car wasn't even remotely considered to be a muscle car, and were marketing it only in terms of visual appeal because it had no performance appeal:

I think something similar is going to occur with the Challenger and Charger models starting in 2024. They will still have some performance, likely an improvement over the current Pentastar and 5.7L equipped models with a turbo 6 making somewhere in the high 300 to low 400 power range. However, what we will also have is a proponderance of boosted i4 engines likely making 300-ish hp similar to the Ford EcoBoost engines. I wouldn't even put it past them to offer an NA i4 as a base econo model option for further EPA fleet offsetting.
I also see a similar transition to a smaller, lighter platform. What I don't see is much talk of officially killing off the namesake. Therefore, I don't expect to see a "final edition" special edition option. We all know this is the end of an era, but Dodge and Stellantis don't want people to think that. So, they'll give us some sort of special edition model that is anything other than a farewell model. Most likely something Hemi or Mopar themed. Maybe something unique like a checkered flag edition (that way they can say it's the finish line, but going out as a winner without actually having to say it's not going to race again sort of corporate BS messaging).
I will just go on record to say that I don't think we're going to get a final production year special edition that has anything to allude to being the end of the Hemi engine. They'll want to gloss over that fact to set up their next models for success, vs. leave so many people wanting for the Hemi they just killed off. So, look for some sort of tie-in special edition that will use colors and/or interior appointments that will look like whatever the pre-production 2024 platform will have on it. That way, the '23 will have this whiz bang new look, and when the '24 comes out, it'll have model familiarity with the preceding model.
Clearly, I've worked in corporate communications for far too long![]()

I just ordered a ‘22 Jailbreak that I plan to DD, so I’m right there with you. I’m not sure what the hell I’m going to do by the next time I’m ready for a new car - probably will have to buy a truck or SUV.Maybe they do a hybrid Hellcat replacement with AWD. electric motors power front wheels & ICE for the rear.A muscle car version of the upcoming E-Ray if you will. I'd be down for that if the price is not stupid. As of now, nothing other than the CT5 V Blackwing interests me as a replacement for my Hellcat (I daily drive it. So if you want to talk weekend toy to replace it then I can think of a few other cars LOL)
I'm right there with you. I'm going to DD my JB for at least 2 years. I kinda wouldn't mind running the miles up to 200k on it just to drag it around to car shows and say, "LOOK! I ACTUALLY DRIVE IT!" But, by the time it hits 30k, that's usually when I start storing things and driving beaters. You dream killer 😢This is my guess as well.
An AWD Challenger Hellcat/Redeye isn't gonna happen. Highly unlikely even a Charger version happens.
