Just did my first oil change. Bought her from a 'Honda' dealer, so I certainly didn't trust that they put in the right oil. Plus, as we all know,
there is nothing greater than your first oil change. Anyway, just wonder what oil pressure you all have on your dash display. Mine is about
35 PSI idling in park, & 71 PSI at about 2000 RPM on the road; all with the engine up to normal temp. Identical readings before & after oil change.
I also installed the Fumoto drain valves;
love them. Very well made and easy to install & use. Of course, I used the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0-40. I did use a Mobil 1 oil filter instead of
the Mopar one.
Thanks!

With my Hellcat oil pressure at 212F oil temperature -- which is the temperature at which I "measure" oil pressure -- was in the mid 30s PSI range. Slipping the transmission from D to P or N and with the resulting increase in RPMs raised oil pressure 3 to 4 psi having it top out at around 39 to 40psi.

At pretty much any RPMs above 1.5K oil pressure was at least 60psi. It went higher as RPMs increased but not by much. Do not recall ever seeing it reach 70psi but I admit under hard acceleration/high RPMs my focus was on driving the car not on the oil pressure.

It is important to note if one is going to "measure" oil pressure to do so consistently at some temperature. I use 212F since this is the temperature at which the high temperature viscosity index is measured, the "40" in "0w-40".

Excellent! Someone that knows this! Yes, we really only have to worry about oil pressure under power anyway when the bearings are under load.

Great, thanks Rockster!

I don't worry about oil pressure. Sure I have viewed it monitored it just to get a feel for it and now that I have I take the opportunity to have it displayed in Performance Pages along with coolant temperature, oil temperature, and battery voltage. Honestly though I pay more attention to oil temperature. Occasionally when I note the oil temperature is at 212F if I happen to be stopped I check the hot idle oil pressure just because I can, but I don't obsess over it.

Under way I might glance over at the oil pressure but not because I fear a low pressure condition it is just a habit same as scanning the dash for signs of any warning lights or other signs of trouble. No way one can react fast enough if the engine suffers a sudden loss of oil pressure. Before the gauge registered this you'll be driving over the crankshaft.

Sudden loss of oil pressure barring say something hitting the pan and putting a hole in it is very rare.

Regarding pressure my WAG is the engine is probably "over" oiled. I recall when Porsche came out with variable displacement/pressure oil pumps the techs told me it was a bit of a "shock" to be driving a vehicle with an engine fitted with this type of oil pump and see the oil pressure go up as the RPMs increased just like every other engine but then when the desired speed was reached the oil pressure dropped some. Both senior teches told me that was a seat cushion clenching moment. But the engine was fine. And after a while the techs just got used to this.
