She's ok with me spending the money, as long as we aren't tight, and I spend some family time.

I actually got in a little trouble with the build because I was always working on the car. So when I blew the motor, I had to outsource the install. Probably for the best for my mental health. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned! Lol

So happy it's not just me! I have experimented a bit... I now know what tires I like but I have....wait for it...Twenty tires currently in my garage.....

6 of them are soon to be for sale....the rest I have on purpose....racing eats tires.......

12 of those tires are mounted on rims... 6 OEM, 4 aftermarket forged and 2 cast for the drag strip....

You got me. I have 16 tires and 10 wheels. However, there are only 2 of them that I have no use for.
I really want to see a 345/35/18 mounted on a Hellcat. Surely that wants a 12in wheel to plant it.

Bismarck is making me a 18x11.5 or 18x12

It will stick out from the fender. It will either have a bad ass old school hotrod look to it, or be gayer than Elton John blowing Richard Simmons.

We will find out...

If it looks bad you can always bolt on these on the rear.

Who knows.

I drive this car very little, or a lot. Lol.

I put 6,000 miles in the last 16 months of ownership. A thousand of those miles was in one week before it broke.

I like the factory tires. I feel safe on them. High speed, and cornering.
The MT's, bite hard, but are real loose on a corner under power.

None of these tires have a speed rating I would like to see.

Okay, another "just curious" question, ... but you can run those 305/35/20 MT Streets on the stock rear rims, correct?

I'm considering the Nitto 555rs for my rears, but noticed (at least in the pic above) that the MTs appear to be taller than the Nittos.

The stock rims will pull the sidewalls in too much and make the tire squirmier (is that a word) than it should be.

Needs a 10" rim.
Many people have put MT's on the stick rim. If it's too squirmy, put a wider rim and it will straighten it up.

Thanks, but ... meh. I was looking for a simple rear tire upgrade on the stock rims for now, ... so I guess it's the Nitto 555rs.

Just for future reference, however, do you have a link/source for 10" rims to mate with those MTs, in case I decided later to upgrade on both tires & wheels. Thanks.

Bravados?

I think Summit has them for cheap.
20x10.

I don't have a link.

I was able to pick up a set up Triumph MX4 20x10's slightly used with almost new MT's for a steal on here.

Merrick, now that you are modifying and building your car, what are you going to do with the 20 inch tires?

Merrick what is your lead time/schedule of your car being back together?

I'm going to feel them out.
I need the factory tires for mile events.

The others, gonna test ride them, and see how they perform, how the feel, and look and settle with which one I like.
I might have a street tire, and a track tire. But, I'm the kinda guy who likes to leave everything on "kill". I don't like changing my tunes, or tires.

My motor should be built this Friday, and shipping to Tims early next week. But that's just the estimate from a week or two ago. I have not bugged Tim. Trying to be that good customer that just hands over cash and says call me when it's done...

Nice, I like that you post up what is going on. Top Cat would be proud of you that you share your info with other members on here.
In the end all these Big Builds will get down to the Tuner, which is Key to anything with modifying. :)
Where did you decide to purchase your Motor from?

Linda:)

It's a Ray Barton 426 HEMI. (Man, saying that never gets old...)

Thanks. Top Cat was an inspiration to me before I even joined the forum or had a hellcat. Was watching how aftermarket was coming along and he was way in front of everyone.

I'm happy to hear Top Cat inspired you and those who wanted to modify their cars. He certainly had a vision and he was compelled to post up the Knowledge from the track, and working with the HHP crew on his car, and mine and the R&D from T&T . My heart always thinks back and I'm so happy he got to so much and was enjoying himself. Our date nights at the track are priceless:)

I have heard of Ray Barton he is west of me here in Pa. A 426 Hemi, very good choice!

At this time we are continuing to T&T parts and Tuning on "Top Cat " There are some mods to be tested and tuned and these are ones John had ordered and asked for. There are some more too that are either in process or waiting but, we do not make a bunch of changes at one time. Josh can really see what is going on with small changes and adds to his tuning. John's Hell Cat is not the only customer that Josh will get track proven tests from.
When eventually we find the limits .......... Top Cat's personal preference for his Motor will be built by BES and he wanted a built Trans by Southern Hot Rod.
I'm hoping it will be later rather than sooner.

So Tomorrow is Fun.. errr Fast Friday in the race world and I think somewhere you posted your engine should be shipping out WoooHooooo!!!:D:cool::D:cool:
