The Redeye Jailbreak I priced out came to 101k. This would have been an 89-90k car in 2021. For funsies, I got a hold of a Chevrolet dealer in Jacksonville that could get me the car below at 91k+ fees. No ADM, 3 month lead time with Corvette museum pickup included.
3LT C8:
The last C8 I sat in, I didn't fit well because it had the sport performance seats. The dealership has a 3LT with these premium seats for a demo, so I may go test fit myself to see if this is even an option.
I've never been a huge Corvette fan, but this Redeye Jailbreak has me second guessing myself. 100 grand is a lot for a muscle car. I've been driving a Challenger since 2017 in 2 different forms; the Redeye would be the third iteration. For 100 grand, I could get the same car all over again with the Redeye engine, but same basic car. Or, I could get the C8, an M4, a gently used 1-2yr old M5, a GT:R, or a 2 year old Aston Martin Vantage for roughly the same or less out the door cost of the new Redeye I want to order. The Jailbreak shenanigans they're doing with the price structure is really starting to put me into a sad place, as I have real issues with throwing money at something that cost so much less just a year ago (nothing I selected wasn't available in 2021). This holds especially true when you start to price compare options and trim with the Redeye vs. almost anything else in the same price bracket. Our cars are really just 2012-2014 cars in terms of tech level, where with these others that I've mentioned have modern, sometimes wildly more advanced tech options.
But, they're not 700+ torque and 800hp. So, there is that.
My other option is to just keep the one I've got. I have about 2 weeks to make the decision to sell it for the offer I was given (basically, my MSRP, which gives me about 20k in equity). Normally, I wouldn't be entertaining such things, but Dodge and their price structure on this Jailbreak is making me be a sensible shopper and to go price shopping competitors I wouldn't normally even think twice about. But, when you ask me for 100 grand, I start to look at all the other $100k shiny cars and... well... some of 'em are pretty nice.
