An old timer tells me going to the 45 is going to mess up my gear ratio says I need a shorter tire. Will these tires help or hurt my 1/4 mile? 10.83 is my best so far. And I don’t have the money to pony up for a drag pack right now so looking for a quick fix to improve time until next year.

You will pick up with that tire purely because it will dead hook. Likely will 60 foot in the low 1.5's. But unless you are running a certain class or have picky NHRA TECH officials I would not reccomend that tire. I would run the 28X10.5R18 DBR Hoosier if you can find them. Or the 305/45R18 Mickey Thompson ET STREET R if you MUST have a DOT tire. Don't listen to the Old Timers. I am one, but not stuck in the past. Things are much different now.

I want a tire I can drive in the street too. Or is that just not good. If it will dead hook why won’t I want it ? It will slow me down further down the track?

I have no idea. All I can tell you is if you glance at the title of this thread casually you will see the word Hooters instead of Hoosiers lol.
As you were.

Hooters are dangerous! They can and have caused serious car wrecks!
And cause serious loss of cash in other ways too!

But they are still awesome!

That tire will help. My suggestions will help more. If your track prep is always bad I would get the tire you posted. If the prep is decent either of my suggestions will work better than the tire you posted. This is all based on the assumption that you want to run your OEM wheels.

I got the Nitto 555R2's 325/35 20 on my Trackhawk and they hook like velcro on the street so im assuming they would be pretty good at the track!

Obviously its AWD and not apples to apples but its the best hooking street tire ive ever used for my TH and u can definately use it on the street and even in the rain if need be.

I dont have them on my Redeye cause im waiting for them to come in as I ordered two months ago. I currently have the NTO5R's and I would have to say their useless.

Their two years old tho and in my experience I get one year out of either a standard DR tire or a DR slic like a 275/60 MT Pro Radial. One year if u live in cold temps cause the winter kills these tires.
