180 Thermostat

My father has a '21 Hellcat and he just replaced his thermostat with a 180 thermostat and I was wondering if it was worth doing it to my '21 SS. While driving around his coolant temp is 186-187 and when he comes to a stop it goes to 204-206, but no higher. In my SS when I am driving around I am at 204-206, but when I am in stop and go traffic I have seen my coolant all the way up to 218-222. Is there any advantage or performance gains to installing the 180 thermostat and having the engine run cooler. I just wasn't sure if it was good for the engine to be running cooler than what it was programmed to run.

@Dragon009 Curious, what are the temperature differences for intake air and I/C Coolant between the '21 Hellcat and '21 SS? What was the ambient temperature?

Dodge Direct Connection packages will use a 180 tstat and 5 deg spark advanced tune in their Pre-stage kits (yet to be released).

The advantage of the lower tstat is the potential to reduce detonation due to heat when tuning more aggressively for performance gains.

You are Welcome! @Keith Richards 768Q The Power Brokers Kit would be awesome. My Husband @Top Cat would say Sheeeesh Ford has racing parts on the Shelf ready go! What is up with Dodge!

Back in 2015 when John @ Top Cat and I were at the track with Josh@HHP starting the R&D and T&T for our Hellcats John would post up all the news from the Track. We are very fortunate that we have many aftermarket parts and experienced Tuners for our Hemi's
This was a thread that was started about My Hellcat getting into the 9's In reality my husband that day was also Blower only and beat me by a nano. I was 9.71 and he was 9.70.
BTW at that time there was NO Other shop in the Country that could get past a 9.8. It was a tremendous amount of work for Josh to figure that out! That's why you always want an Experienced Tuner for the Modern Hemi's and definitely for Hellcats

If the time comes that you will be able to modify your Hellcat, I try to keep this thread updated for the changing of mods. What is Linda's receipe for a 9 sec Cat blower only?

My Hellcat has a couple of more changes and soon I will update that thread. I use to race with Q16 and Cat delete. Right now my Hellcat is completely street legal Cats on. Last tested I had a 9.8.
I need more seat time to see if I can better the 9.8. If not I like to Drag race and Daily Drive, so I think it's a great thing to have 2 Tunes 1 for the Track and 1 for Daily driving and keeps my Hellcat safe.

Mu husbands Hellcat known as "Top Cat" Challenger has been out for a new build. We will see how T&T and R&D goes later this year.

Happy 4th of July!
