2 Door Charger, just curious

Would anyone switch from their Challenger to a Charger coupe if they started making them?

I wish FCA would make Charger Coupe. I love the retro look of the Challenger but love the design of the Charger. Only one problem... I can't convince myself to buy a 4 door family cruiser muscle machine. No offense to those that have a Charger it's just my personal preference.

Once the Challenger came out it no longer bugged me the Charger was 4 door. Because of today's SUV market, you just can't support all the choices there once were with performance cars, so as long as I have a single 2 door choice, I am good. I also came to realize that if you are going build something extremely retro, the original Challenger/Cuda are much more feasible, as they were more '70s' , whereas the Charger's heyday everyone would want was during the boxy 'late60s' years.

With that said ... if FCA ever did the below, I would have to buy one. If nothing else, the guy proved it is feasible fitting the 2nd-gen Charger proportions to a modern 300c chassis.

Just my opinion, but I think Dodge hit the Hellcat out of the park. The Charger is awesome for those who want/need a four door sedan, while the Challenger is a comfortable two door muscle car. If that isn't enough of an option for you, you can always look at the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk if you're wanting to part with around $100,000. I just don't think a two door Charger is necessary at this point, but again that's just my opinion.

I hear what you're saying but 2 doors with the same amount of room and better visibility. I could see how a coupe could fit. I think it would be a healthy competition for the Challenger. When talking retro the Charger should technically be a 2 door.

I don't disagree that the Challenger has a couple of blind spots, but this car is a dream compared to the 2010 Camaro I had for two years. I got rid of that car because I never felt right in that car. The blind spot monitoring is something I think every vehicle should have as I'm sure it will save multiple lives.

Seen these before. Not a big fan of the top one (though if I remember correctly someone actually built it). Just too off the wall for me. The grey one, kind of neutral about. Don't see these as truly viable from a mass production stand point - these are someone's personal design "dream" or what have you. For it to make mass production it has to be a final design that would appeal for volume sales. I don't think either would do that. But that's just my opinion.

I used to have some heartburn over the 4dr not being a "real" Charger, right up until the moment I told myself to shut up. At the end of the day, some guys in Michigan took a B body, sexed it up a little and slapped a name on it, hoping it would sell. Forty years later, those same type of guys took a modified Merc chassis and slapped a name on it, hoping it would sell. Were they playing to heritage? Sure they were. Is the 4dr a much better car than that hideous 2 dr crapbox they pushed in the mid 70's? Absolutely. The only constant is change. I know, I know, everything was better way back when. I could run faster, shoot straighter and piss farther, I got it.

The Challenger captures the overall shape of the Gen1 cars really well. That said, set them beside one another and it looks like the new one crapped out the old one. Crash test/safety requirements, tech add ons, etc... it is what it is. You could always do what I did, just have one of each. That way you can enjoy the experience of both. Here's a hint, the new one is better in every way, but the old one makes your junk twitch every time you look at it.

Regards,
John
