BMR Suspension Noise and Alignment Issues

I just had all suspension parts as well as cradle lockout replaced with BMR suspension pieces and now i have some noises in the rear of the car that sounds like a clunking noise. I had my installer double check all the bolts, etc. to make sure they are all torqued down and tight. I had the car aligned after the suspension install and now i am also having a problem with keeping the car tracking straight when I apply heavy throttle. This issue is when there is no wheel spin. It seems like the rearend wants to float back and forth. It is very sketchy when I feel this.

I also have Demon Killer springs installed both front and back.

Any BMR suspension specialists or knowledgeable suspension members in here.

Thanks

I strongly suspect that they shifted/turned the cradle when installing the lockout kit. That change in geometry cannot be fully compensated by a regular wheel alignment and may result in weird handling. Clunking is something else, probably. Overall, looks like whoever did the install did not do a good job.

What do you suggest for checking/correcting the cradle alignment? I have the unlimited alignment package at Firestone and the alignment guy there is the one that BMR recommended me to go to.

Alignment, even if done correctly, will not fix all the issues caused by a badly shifted cradle. Think about it: if you shift the cradle to a side, you can get the right angles, but the car will still crabwalk. If you just rotate the cradle, you can fix the angles, but the wheelbase on the left will differ from the wheelbase on the right (that probably won't help stability, too). If they shifted the cradle left or right plus rotated it, you have both effects. Easy to make look OK on paper after alignment, but it won't drive right (kind of like a car after a bad accident: they fixed it, but it doesn't drive the same because the geomenty is messed up).

This is the process we use on every drag car we install our 60' package on (which includes rear control arms, cradle locks etc.). Extremely accurate and when done properly maintains proper geometry though the wheel/suspension travel. We have full weight cars that 60' in the mid 1.2's with this setup.

That's a good looking hellcat BTW :sneaky:

And yes your alignment helped tremendously with my 60' times. Even with the 305x45x17s out back, full weight nothing removed, I can pull consistent 1.3 60's.

Bmr has cradle alignment dowels, no? I could have sworn...

One of the links is not centered in the ball joint. You MUST have the car fully on its tires before tightening any of the ends. Twist the arms so the clevis is not jammed at one extreme or other.

Your front toe is twice the recommend and the rear is grossly lacking.

Did you not get adjustable A arms for the front?

Alignment and cradle issues are taken care of, but i am still having squeaking issues pretty bad, like the bushings are rubbing against metal. I'm about to get rid of the BMR kit and go AAD of which everyone seems to recommend over BMR. BMR has not been great to deal with as far as a fix or suggestions. BMR recommended a certain tech at the local Firestone that was supposed to be an expert at aligning this suspension and he aligned it per the sheet above which is way off from what everyone states. Very frustrated at this point.

What are everyone's thoughts on the AAD Drag Pack?

pull the arms, make sure the grease was applied to the OD of the poly.
Also when aligning and car fully on it's wheels, make SURE the bearing head is not canted to one extreme or the other. It needs to be in the mid-point. My creaked something FIERCE (like a 60's jalopy) until the bearings were re-centered.

A dry lube like graphite or parafin might be a better choice as well than silicone

I have had AAD out back for about a year and have had zero issues. Car plants and launches straight consistently. I think my cradle lockouts are BMR? But i have no squeaking, just louder diff whine after the lockout due to the solid mounts.

Yea, I don't think it is the cradle lockout (never sprayed with lubricant) at all because I have sprayed silicone lubricant on the bushings and hime joints and noise will go away for maybe a day or until it rains and then come back, Now, even when I spray silicone lubricant, I can't get the noise to go away. It sounds like I am driving a 69 Cadillac with bad shocks. I am at wits end with this issue. I can handle a slight squeak, but this can be heard outside of the car when I drive.
