My batterie's cca is starting to go down a lot. I believe ours stock is rated at 730. Firestone tested mine and it is down to 500. So far I can start the car. But for a $200 repair I would rather be proactive.

At Autozone they have the dura last. It has a CCA rating of 850 and all the reviews have been positive.

I have a BAP and dual fuel pump. So I thought a slightly more powerful battery would not be bad.

I know nothing about batteries and thought I would ask fellow forum members about this battery.

It doesn't matter what you have because once the car is started, it runs off the alternator and Not the battery. It's a battery, don't over think it

I have used them in several cars and they worked out well.
The battery in my '16 croaked a few months back & I had it replaced under warranty (bad cell).

BTW, that battery is made by Johnson Controls who also makes Diehard (Sears), Interstate, Kirkland (Costco), Motorcraft (Ford), Optima, and some EverStarts.

I went to Autozone. Either Firestone had badly calibrated equipment or like you stated they were just selling me something I did not need. The sad thing is my brother in law was present as he works as a technician there. Autozone did a load test on it and it was 89 percent charged. The battery passed with flying colors especially considering I have not been on the freeway for a while and long drives have not been present. Conclusion. No battery needed nor purchased.

My resting voltage two plus hours after the car is off is around 12.1 to 12.2. On the battery sites it states to replace? That is on my heads up display. Not with a voltage meter. Is that 12.2 or so good enough or is it time for a battery replacement. The car is two plus years old with the battery being a few months older than the car.

OK. :)

These big box facility’s are trained how to test a battery to give results that would indicate replacement is required.
These people routinely sell 800 dollar brake jobs to people who only needed tires and nothing else by quoting scare tactics.
I had a dealership tell me my car needed a valve adjustment because it was 2years old but it had hydraulic valve lifters and should never need adjusted.

It is boarder line fraud.

My OEM Battery was toast after not starting the car for a few months. I bought the Duralast 880 CCA AGM battery from Autozone. I am not going to install it until I pt the car back on the road this Spring when the weather clears.

A majority of batteries are built by or for Johnson Controls who then sells them to autozone, Orielly, advanced,ac delco and motorcraft rebadge and sell them. The most important things is CCA and thats its a AGM. A non AGM wont last as long because these cars have a lot of constant on stuff that drain the car when its off. I also believe in trickle charging every now and then just so the battery never gets low.

I wouldn't call it border line.

I put the larger Duralast AGM (group size H8 for the police version) in my daughter's '14 Charger. It was cheaper than the OE size and 900 CCA. Just needed a new hold down bracket (Mopar P/N 5112059AB). I have the Duralast AGM's in a few other of my cars. No issues with any of them.

I have heard that Sears stopped producing the Die Hard Platinum battery because they lost the contract from Enersys/Odyssey and that Autozone now has it. The new
Duralast Platinum is supposedly the improved Die Hard Platinum battery. Can anyone confirm this? They have the same 3 year replacement warranty and sell for about the same price at $199 at Autozone.

Battery of choice in my opinion would be Northstar/X2Power.

The Northstar AGM for the charger and challenger part number is shown in pic below.

X2Power which is exact same as northstar just relabled, and they both are made in the USA.
Part # SLI94RAGMDP

They have a 60 month warranty (Free replacement). 840CCA, 1030CA, 158min Reserve cap. Weigh around 57lbs and cost about $290-$300. Worth every penny.

Plus Northstar was formed by an engineer who worked for Odyssey.

I got the Odyssey in the 94R size AGM style battery, because Optima failed to make a battery for this car. Boy is that Odyssey ever heavy. Right side of care behind the rear axle. Right where this car needs some weight.

Remember to carefully remove the vent tube from old battery and carefully put it in the new one, plus the plug on the vent hole on the rear of the battery where you will not be needing it.
