My old school understanding was Twin Screw>TVS>Roots style. But TVS blowers like the 2650 have closed the gap on TS blowers like whipples. That rotor pack is unique as it builds boost similarly to a centrifugal blower. Not completely the same, but you dont see the instant on full boost like you do with the TS and roots. But their efficiency range is generally higher in the RPM and can carry HP out well past the efficiency of say a whipple or older Eaton Roots. I had a maggie 2650 on my ZL1 and on a WOT hit, it would start around 8psi and build boost to about 15psi at the most with the 90mm pulley I had. Not the instant hit of a whipple, but more controlled. But man did it carry out.

Likely the reason it wasn't done sooner is no demand. The OEM blower when ported has supported some very extreme setups and beyond that Whipple had the market covered. I get that people are excited about a new product but I doubt it's going to much better than a ported 2.4L or 2.7L OEM blower.
Not at stock or elevated power levels sure. But pushing past the stock efficiency range, it will be much better. That’s the point of them.

I stand by my statement that it won't be much better than a ported OEM. The stock blower is just designed so damn well. I'd love to be proven wrong but I'm quite certain I won't be in this case.
I agree but again to a point. If you want 1000-1500HP, then you want a whipple TS or a 2650 TVS. The stock blower has its place and sure covers a huge range of peoples needs. But once you want more, you will be shopping.
Personally Id love to see the difference between this new Kong 2650 vs a stock blower at various boost levels. Me thinks you will be right from stock boost to say 20-22psi. Beyond that, you will need more. This is the same with the ZL1. I put the maggie 2650 on my ZL1 that was otherwise stock, and it didnt do much better than the stock blower could do except for temp control.

Some brief google searching and looks like on other platforms people typically overspin other TVS 2650-based blowers anywhere from 22k up to 27k RPM regularly with reliability. It seems the performance characteristics (psi vs RPM) are fairly well understood on those.
You got data on that?

This was my understanding as well when it came to intake temps for screw vs roots.
Unfortunately most of the stuff I've come across was just before/when the TVS 2650 and Whipple 3.0 were released around Covid-era.
Some claim the new Maggie intercooler bricks have better cooling capabilities vs the whipple but I'm still on the fence when it comes to this.
