Shift Hesitation between 1-2

I have a 2020 Challenger Redeye Widebody with 5600 miles and it falls on its face between 1-2 shift on wide open throttle. This is with the traction control and stability control turned off. I put stock Demon wheels and tires on the back to get traction and the 1-2 shift in WOT is Horrible. It falls flat on its face then takes off again. It's not hitting the rev limiter of strving for fuel. Feels like a TCM problem issue. HELP !!

WAG is the tires are breaking loose. Even with a my Hellcat a shift from 1 to 2 at WOT would have the rear tires spinning like crazy.

Never tried this but the "word" was for a better launch from a stop to put the transmission in manual mode with the transmission in 2nd gear. Take off. ASAP move the lever to D mode and then let the transmission/engine controller upshift. With the manual shift mode I believe you will find it very hard to time the shifts just right.

Wanted to add be sure the fuel level in the gas tank is good. My experience with my Hellcat is the fuel level was considerably less than indicated when the tank level read 1/4 tank. Under hard acceleration with a too low a level of gasoline the fuel pump may be sucking air.

Also, be sure the oil is fresh and the level is good. There have been cases -- most often spotted on the dyno -- of an engine being run up to red line suffering from an unexpected/inexplicable loss of power.

The problem was traced to aerated oil at high RPMs. The air in the oil causes the zero lash valve adjusters to partially collapse which causes the valve lift and timing to deviate from what they should be with the engine just running out of steam.

My RedEye had this same problem. I went pretty high up on the chain with SRT customer service including several dealer visits and a confirming dealer opinion etc and even hitting up my insider connection within FCA. Bottom line they said it was operating as designed. They WANT it to hiccup. I sold mine after all that.

I had Dodge do a stage 1 on my 2023 charger hellcat and it’s also running poorly on the shifts. They also told me that this is normal. I’ve told them that “this is normal is a bullshit answer for a 100k race car”. Supposed to take it back in to have it flashed for a 3rd time. So dumb.

I have the same car and at first it bugged me to death! What happens is that it hits the rev limiter due to the rpm’s rising so quickly, it can’t shift before it bumps the limiter. Drag radials are your answer man. And I have learned to not go full throttle until going into 3rd gear. Also when in dedicated manual mode, it will always hit the limiter and die out almost quicker than you can shift it when WOT. Takes getting used to, but drag radials are the biggest assistant on these cars.

Car has Drag Radials and they hook up really well. Absolutely no wheel spin. According to the data it dosen't come close to the rev-limiter. It definitely has something to do with either the TCM or some learning issue...
I would think by now Dodge would have
I had this exact same issue with my narrow body Redeye. I took it in and they said nothing was wrong. They did not want to flash the TCM, but I nagged them to do so. They finally acquiesced- and low and behold, it largely addressed the issue. Then I bought Nitto-555R for front and back and it really abated the problem. These cars get strange sometimes but are worth it in the end IMO. I was still fed up with the wheel spin though, so I got the Super Stock and the meatier, stouter tires really bite when warmed up.
Thank you !

It’s not the rev limiter. It’s in the software. Designed to do it and I hate it. Plenty of info on this in other threads.

My Frostbite Car the hiccup was massive and I had perfect hook on a prepped drag strip with 315 ET Sreet R drag radials. In my case I was absolutely hitting the rev limiter. Data Logs shows 6600-6700 RPM at the peak. So there are 2 aspects. RPM and the Shift duration (I think). I was told the hiccup in my Super Stock was not RPM related. So apparently the shifts are not completing on time or something similar. Raising the Transmission pressure fixed that.

My Widebody Scat Pack did exactly the same thing on the 2-3 shift. Took it to the dealership and they were instructed to do an update on the trans and it did nothing. It was fine on easy driving but as soon as I did anything over a 30 percent throttle it sounded like it was backfiring out of the exhaust when it shifted and you felt the car lurch forward before shifting and they all looked at me like I was nuts
I gave up even trying and ended up trading it in for a truck for my brother and I bought his Redeye

Cool. Does your Redeye do it ??
